What You'll Be Doing

What You Need
Candidates should meet one of the following experience/education combinations:
At least 6 months' experience in a restaurant or hotel together with a degree, diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management; or
At least 2 years' experience in a restaurant or hotel with a degree/diploma in a non-hospitality field.

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and order across the kitchen and dishwashing areas. The role also supports kitchen operations through equipment cleaning, waste handling, basic food preparation and service assistance.
Key Responsibilities
Keep the kitchen clean, organized and properly maintained.
Ensure kitchen floors remain clean and dry.
Follow required sanitation, hygiene and safety procedures.
Handle and dispose of waste according to hotel and authority standards, including applicable recycling requirements.
Carry out general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, washing and emptying rubbish bins and boxes into the appropriate containers.
Keep waste bin areas clean and orderly.
Operate pot-washing equipment and maintain hygienic working conditions in accordance with applicable regulations and company standards.
Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils and other kitchen equipment using established procedures.
Wash and sanitize dishes and service ware.
Clean large kitchen equipment as assigned.
Maintain kitchen and dishwashing floors and walls according to established procedures.
Wash, wipe, sort and stack dishes, as well as load and unload the dishwasher.
Store cleaned items safely and in an organized manner.
Remove broken or chipped service items from use and update the breakage and inventory register.
Follow SDS requirements when handling workplace chemicals.
Monitor chemical levels and maintain chemical inventory.
Clean, sanitize and close workstations at the end of operations.
