Job Objective
AAA Growers – Veg is part of AAA Group and specializes in the production of vegetables, chilies, herbs, and fruits for local and export markets. The business operates across several farms, using both in-house and open-field production to maintain reliable supply and consistent quality.
The Avocado Manager will oversee production activities and general orchard maintenance at Simba Farm, ensuring that avocado production is properly managed throughout the growing season.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the health and hygiene of avocado plants and identify signs of stress, pests, and diseases.
Coordinate plant nutrition and pest-control activities in line with instructions from the senior manager.
Manage and maintain irrigation systems, spraying equipment, field tools, and other production equipment.
Maintain proper quality control and ensure harvested avocados are handled correctly.
Train workers on orchard practices including pruning, propping, harvesting, weeding, mulching, drainage, and other required techniques.
Develop and maintain an avocado crop model for tracking crop development and phenological stages during the season.
Implement gap-filling and infilling activities to maintain a consistent tree population across the orchard.
Identify and obtain suitable avocado scions from reputable sources for grafting.
Plan avocado seedling grafting and delivery according to seasonal production requirements.
Organize labour effectively and ensure employees meet their assigned daily production targets.
Train farm staff in organic farming, grafting, pruning, crop management, and other relevant agricultural practices.
Supervise daily orchard activities, including nursery work, transplanting, irrigation, fertilizer application, pest management, and harvesting.
Work with the agronomy team to control pests and diseases and keep them below the required thresholds.
Monitor irrigation requirements and prepare watering schedules according to crop needs and production stages.
Apply strong knowledge of avocado production, husbandry, and seasonal patterns in East Africa.
Ensure orchard activities meet applicable agricultural audit and production standards.
Identify, manage, and correct any areas where operations fall short of required standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of practical experience managing orchards or plantations, preferably involving avocado or other fruit crops.
Hands-on knowledge of pruning, grafting, irrigation, and pest and disease management.
Experience supervising farm labour and maintaining productivity, compliance, and safety.
Good understanding of avocado growth stages, phenological monitoring, and seasonal production planning.
Knowledge of irrigation scheduling, fertilizer use, and crop protection.
Ability to manage farm tools, equipment, and inventories and ensure they are properly maintained.
Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), GlobalGAP, and agricultural audit requirements.
Strong staff supervision, training, and performance management skills.
Practical, proactive, and results-focused approach to orchard operations.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with an interest in continuous improvement.

Job Objective
AAA Growers – Veg, a division of AAA Group, produces vegetables, chilies, herbs, and fruits for its customers, including export markets. Its production activities are carried out across multiple farms using both in-house and open-field growing methods to maintain year-round supply and consistent product quality.
The Junior Production Manager will oversee production activities within the assigned section and help ensure that operations are efficient, productive, and delivered according to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor production expenditure against approved budgets and introduce measures that help control costs.
Plan and supervise greenhouse vegetable production, covering greenhouse condition, planting, crop care, harvesting, training, forecasting, cleanliness, and microclimate management.
Ensure quality products are produced on schedule and prepare production forecasts and reports for the Farm Manager and Sales team.
Manage daily section operations and supervise growers by assigning duties according to workload and productivity requirements.
Guide, train, and support employees while promoting teamwork, workplace safety, and professional development.
Track production KPIs and take action where performance falls below expectations.
Manage production tools and equipment, maintain asset records, and coordinate preventive maintenance.
Raise and coordinate requirements for PPE, tools, equipment, and other production resources.
Supervise the complete crop cycle from land preparation and planting through irrigation, crop protection, growth, harvesting, and maintenance.
Ensure Section Heads and Supervisors operate within approved budgets and use labour, working hours, and other resources efficiently.
Monitor overtime and organize production activities according to expected demand.
Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and production standards.
Prepare five-week and weekly production forecasts and maintain accuracy within the required ±5% range.
Ensure greenhouse preparation and maintenance activities are completed according to schedule.
Coordinate cropping schedules and required crop cultural practices.
Qualifications and Skills
Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
More than 5 years of experience in greenhouse vegetable production in a similar position.
Self-driven and capable of thinking strategically and responding effectively to production challenges.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a diverse agricultural environment.
Strong administrative, site management, and people management abilities.
Demonstrated ability to achieve production targets within strict timelines.
Good report-writing skills.
