About the Role
Our client is an established adventure travel company with over 20 years of regional experience. The company operates locally while being affiliated with an international adventure travel organization and focuses on nature-based travel, conservation and community support.
The company is seeking an experienced Lead Adventure Planner/Senior Safari Consultant to manage the design, costing and coordination of customized safari itineraries. The role will ensure bookings are commercially viable, accurately recorded and smoothly progressed from the initial proposal to operational handover.
This hands-on leadership position requires strong knowledge of East African destinations, commercial understanding, attention to detail and team leadership skills. The successful candidate will also guide the Custom team, manage workloads, maintain quality and support ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Custom Enquiries and Proposal Development
Lead the preparation of customized safari proposals for travel agents and direct clients.
Understand client and agent needs and turn them into suitable safari recommendations.
Create practical, attractive itineraries supported by accurate costing.
Handle complex, high-value, sensitive and priority enquiries.
Suggest suitable alternatives when preferred properties, services or routes are unavailable or inappropriate.
Provide timely, accurate and commercially appropriate advice.
Itinerary, Costing and Commercial Accuracy
Ensure proposals are complete, accurate, commercially viable and clearly presented.
Check routes, travel times, availability, rates, supplements, taxes, exchange rates, margins, payment terms, inclusions and exclusions.
Accurately enter proposal and quotation details into the relevant systems.
Review amendments and ensure all changes are reflected consistently in itineraries, costings, client communication and systems.
Protect agreed margins and obtain approval for discounts or commercial commitments outside delegated authority.
Team Leadership and Organization
Coach and support team members in managing priorities, workloads and competing requirements.
Assign enquiries and priority tasks according to complexity, deadlines, skills and workload.
Track outstanding enquiries, response deadlines and workload risks.
Review team work and provide practical guidance where needed.
Hold regular team briefings and individual check-ins.
Escalate significant workload, service, conduct or performance concerns appropriately.
Quality Assurance
Maintain high standards in itinerary preparation, costing, booking coordination and client communication.
Review team work to identify errors, inconsistencies and recurring quality concerns.
Provide timely feedback and coaching to improve accuracy and consistency.
Encourage accountability, attention to detail and continuous improvement.
Product and Destination Knowledge
Maintain up-to-date practical knowledge of East African destinations, seasons, properties, activities, access, routes and logistics.
Assess properties and services based on client requirements, agent expectations, operational reliability, value and sustainability considerations.
Keep the team updated on product changes, closures, availability restrictions and operational issues.
Participate in product training, property inspections and familiarization trips when required.
Safari Handover and Collaboration
Ensure confirmed custom safaris are accurately and promptly transferred to the appropriate operational teams.
Keep enquiry, proposal and booking information accurate within approved systems.
Follow sales procedures, service standards and system workflows.
Work with Guest Relations, Safari Operations, Finance and other departments to support smooth service delivery.
Assist in resolving changes, incidents and service matters requiring sales involvement.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Prepare regular reports on enquiry volumes, response times, proposal status, conversions, workload, service issues and team development.
Identify recurring errors, trends, training requirements, capacity issues and opportunities for improvement.
Keep informed about travel industry developments and trends affecting clients and safari planning.
Recommend practical improvements to processes, systems, tools and service standards.
Provide senior management with relevant updates and recommendations.
Candidate Requirements
Significant experience in customized safari planning, itinerary development and costing.
Strong practical knowledge of East African destinations, properties, activities, seasons, routes and logistics.
Demonstrated experience dealing with international travel agents, destination specialists and/or high-value direct clients.
Strong commercial understanding covering margins, rates, exchange rates, taxes, supplements and profitability.
Experience managing complex, high-value or sensitive travel enquiries.
Previous experience supervising, leading or coaching travel consultants or specialists.
Ability to manage competing workloads, deadlines and service expectations.
Experience with travel reservation, quotation or CRM systems.
Excellent written and spoken English.
A relevant qualification in Tourism Management, Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business, Sales or a related area is an advantage.
Extensive practical experience in tailor-made safari sales and operations will be highly valued.
Desirable Experience
Background in luxury, experiential, adventure or conservation-focused travel.
Experience with a safari operator, destination management company or specialist tour operator.
Strong knowledge of East African safari products, particularly Kenya and Tanzania.
Experience using Safari Portal, ResRequest or similar travel reservation and quotation systems.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams or multiple operational locations.
Experience in team performance management, quality assurance or operational workflow improvement.

Our client is an established regional safari company with more than two decades of experience in East Africa and an affiliation with an international adventure travel organization. The company specializes in nature-based travel experiences while supporting conservation, local communities and high-quality operations.
The organization is seeking an experienced People & Culture Generalist to manage daily workforce operations across the head office, regional safari hubs and multiple field teams. This hands-on HR position is suited to a professional who can work effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
The successful candidate will oversee employee lifecycle activities, advise line managers, maintain accurate and compliant personnel records, handle employee relations matters and contribute to a high-performing workplace culture.
The position requires strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation, including the Employment Act 2007, OSHA and WIBA, as well as statutory compliance, confidential handling of employee matters and practical problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations and Line Manager Support
Act as the first point of HR advice for department heads and safari managers on performance, attendance, conduct and workplace matters.
Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures from start to finish in accordance with company policies and Section 41 of the Kenyan Employment Act (2007).
Coordinate show-cause letters, investigations and disciplinary hearings objectively and appropriately.
Support fair, confidential and timely resolution of employee grievances.
Conduct impartial workplace investigations into policy violations and interpersonal conflicts.
Monitor employee sentiment and support reward and recognition initiatives aligned with organizational values.
Track exit interviews and identify potential employee retention concerns.
Statutory Compliance and HR Administration
Ensure HR policies, employment contracts and operating procedures comply with Kenyan employment laws, including the Employment Act 2007, Labour Relations Act and WIBA.
Work with Finance to verify correct calculations and timely monthly submission of statutory obligations, including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy and NITA.
Oversee preparation, issuance and renewal of compliant employment contracts and letters.
Regularly review employee files to maintain accurate records, data integrity and confidentiality.
Support OSHA compliance across office and field locations.
Ensure statutory medical checks and workplace incident or injury reporting under WIBA are consistently carried out.
Employee Lifecycle and Onboarding
Coordinate recruitment for mid-level and operational positions in collaboration with line managers.
Support vacancy preparation, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks and structured onboarding.
Monitor statutory leave balances, including annual, sick, maternity and paternity leave.
Administer employee medical insurance, life insurance and benefit changes in coordination with Finance.
Performance, Learning and Payroll
Coordinate the performance management process and track completion of appraisals, Personal Development Plans and follow-up actions.
Collect and verify monthly payroll information, including attendance records, approved adjustments and leave allowances, within required deadlines.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
Active registration with IHRM Kenya is preferred.
3–5 years of progressive HR generalist experience covering recruitment, employee relations, statutory compliance, performance management and HR administration.
Experience in tourism, hospitality, travel, safari or another fast-paced multi-site operational environment is highly desirable.
Strong working knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and statutory requirements.
Knowledge of HR data management and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and HR systems.
Practical and solution-focused approach.
Highly organized, discreet and accountable.
Ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy, fairness and objectivity.
