Job Summary
Our client, a diversified group with operations across several industries and business units, is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee and lead the HR function across the organization. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, strengthen HR governance and compliance, support senior management on people-related matters, and ensure consistent HR practices across the different companies.
Key Responsibilities
Group HR Strategy and Governance
Develop and execute the group’s HR strategy in line with business objectives and the operational needs of individual companies.
Establish and maintain standardized HR policies, procedures, governance frameworks and approval processes across the group.
Advise directors and senior managers on workforce planning, organizational structures, employee relations, performance and people-related risks.
Ensure HR decisions are properly documented and consistently applied while taking into account legitimate differences between business units.
Workforce Planning, Talent and Succession
Lead workforce planning, headcount assessments and staffing audits across the group.
Identify staffing shortages, excess capacity, critical positions and future workforce requirements.
Work with business and departmental leaders to assess organizational structures, responsibilities and staffing levels against operational needs.
Oversee recruitment processes for senior and critical roles, including candidate selection, background checks, onboarding and probation.
Develop succession plans and talent pipelines for key and business-critical positions.
Performance Management, Employee Relations and Culture
Manage the group-wide performance management process and ensure KPIs, performance reviews, probation assessments and performance improvement plans are completed on schedule and properly documented.
Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, including grievances, investigations, disciplinary cases and employee exits.
Monitor employee turnover, absenteeism, engagement and other workforce trends and recommend appropriate interventions.
Promote a consistent organizational culture and professional standards across all companies.
Compliance, Reporting and HR Team Leadership
Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment laws, statutory HR requirements and internal HR policies.
Conduct or coordinate regular HR compliance reviews and ensure identified gaps are addressed and closed.
Prepare consolidated HR reports covering areas such as staffing, vacancies, turnover, attendance, leave, employee relations, performance, training and compliance.
Lead, mentor and supervise the HR team while assigning responsibilities and monitoring performance against agreed KPIs.
Ensure HR services are delivered effectively to all group companies and branches.
Maintain accurate employee information, HR records, trackers and HR systems across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
5–8 years of progressive experience in human resources, including at least 3 years in an HR management or senior HR leadership position.
Experience supporting multiple companies, branches, business units or multi-site teams.
Exposure to different industries will be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation, employee relations, disciplinary procedures and HR compliance.
Practical experience in workforce planning, performance management, HR policy development, succession planning and HR reporting.
Strong analytical and reporting skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems.
Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or another relevant professional HR certification will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, grooming and uniform requirements.
Work closely with kitchen staff, cashiers and supervisors to maintain efficient service.
Assist with opening and closing duties when required.
Monitor and replenish service supplies such as napkins, straws and condiments.
Maintain service standards during busy periods and peak operating hours.
Follow established restaurant procedures, policies and service standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food and Beverage Service or a related field.
At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in a restaurant, hotel, café or similar hospitality environment.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Professional appearance, good grooming and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
Experience using POS systems for billing, payment processing and transaction reconciliation.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic and professionalism.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Ability to remain composed under pressure while maintaining service quality.
