Biomedical Engineer

Keep critical medical equipment dependable, safe, and ready when clinicians need it.

We’re looking for a hands-on Biomedical Engineer to support the performance and reliability of medical equipment and clinical systems. The role combines preventive maintenance, technical troubleshooting, calibration, equipment installation, and user support, with the ultimate goal of minimizing equipment-related interruptions to patient care.

What you’ll handle

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on diagnostic, monitoring, life-support, and other clinical equipment.

• Test and calibrate equipment to maintain accuracy, safety, and operational performance.

• Investigate equipment faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs as quickly as possible to reduce clinical downtime.

• Install, inspect, and commission new medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable safety requirements.

• Keep equipment inventories, maintenance records, service logs, and compliance documentation accurate and up to date.

• Work with clinical teams to understand equipment issues and provide appropriate technical support.

• Train healthcare staff on the correct, safe, and efficient use of medical devices.

• Apply established safety procedures throughout maintenance, repair, testing, and installation activities.

What you’ll need

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.

• Active registration and membership with the relevant engineering regulatory or professional body.

• 1–2 years of practical technical experience, preferably within a hospital or other healthcare facility.

• Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting ability.

• Good technical hands-on skills and confidence working with medical equipment.

• Analytical approach to diagnosing equipment problems.

• Strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and equipment reliability.

Location: Nairobi

Candidates should be able to work effectively in an environment where equipment availability can directly affect clinical operations.

Clinical Officer

Provide front-line clinical care with sound judgment, compassion, and confidence.

This position is for a qualified Clinical Officer who can manage routine patient consultations while responding effectively when cases become urgent. You’ll assess patients, make clinical decisions, provide treatment within your scope, and ensure those requiring specialist attention are referred appropriately.

The work will involve

• Seeing patients in outpatient and inpatient settings and carrying out appropriate clinical assessments.

• Taking patient histories, conducting examinations, reaching clinical diagnoses, and developing suitable treatment plans.

• Responding to emergencies through timely intervention, resuscitation, stabilization, and ongoing patient management.

• Performing minor surgical and outpatient procedures that fall within your professional scope.

• Recognizing cases that require specialist input and arranging appropriate referrals.

• Maintaining complete and confidential electronic medical records.

• Explaining diagnoses, treatment, prevention measures, and healthy lifestyle practices to patients and, where appropriate, members of the community.

• Working effectively under pressure while maintaining patient safety and professional standards.

Your background

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

• Active registration with the relevant professional council and a valid practising licence.

• 2–3 years of clinical experience in a busy outpatient or inpatient environment.

• Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.

• Ability to remain composed and effective in demanding situations.

• Clear, empathetic communication and a patient-focused approach.

Location: Nairobi

Preference: Candidates currently based in Nairobi are highly preferred.
