Key Responsibilities
Develop the MIKE Content Management System using Drupal.
Transfer existing MIKE content into the newly developed platform.
Assist with deploying the completed system to UNICC servers.
Improve the performance and functionality of the UNEP GEF Project Implementation Report (PIR) system.
Prepare the GEF PIR platform for the FY2026 reporting cycle.
Ensure FY2025 reporting results are stored in an accessible location and configure the reporting form for 2026.
Reduce repetitive data entry by incorporating relevant 2025 information into the 2026 reporting process.
Develop an AI-powered Household Waste Categorization web application for Lesotho.
Qualifications and Skills
A Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required.
A first-level university degree in one of the above fields may be accepted together with two additional years of relevant professional experience.
At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in computer science, IT, information systems, or a related area.
Practical experience developing Drupal CMS solutions and integrating APIs with Drupal.
Experience developing applications with MS SQL and relational databases.
Strong knowledge of web technologies, including HTML5 and CSS3.
Experience with React and Python development.
Knowledge of systems analysis, solution design, and computer programming.
Advanced programming skills in PHP and experience with MVC frameworks and Docker Hub.
Previous experience with the United Nations or a comparable international organization is an advantage.

Communication Intern

Key Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating and launching climate-related publications.
Support the distribution and promotion of UNEP reports and campaigns to relevant audiences, partners, and networks, including timely follow-up.
Help maintain climate-related webpages by coordinating updates and ensuring published information remains accurate and current.
Assist with organizing climate-focused events, campaigns, and related activities.
Monitor communication outputs and funded deliverables and contribute information required for internal, periodic, and donor reports.
Prepare minutes and action notes for selected recurring meetings and follow up on agreed activities.
Take responsibility for selected initiatives that match the intern’s interests and abilities while working under supervision.
Coordinate with editorial, multimedia, social media, web, and translation teams to support the timely completion of communication materials.
Apply design skills where appropriate to help create or adapt presentations, social media content, and other communication resources.
Perform other communication-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme leading to a second university degree or equivalent qualification, or be in the final year of a first university degree programme at bachelor’s level or equivalent.
Preferred fields include Communication, International Affairs, Environmental Studies, or a closely related discipline.
No previous professional work experience is required for this internship.
Applicants should be comfortable using standard computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
The applicant’s academic field should be relevant to the nature of the internship.
Candidates must be in the final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, or equivalent programme, or have already completed one of these qualifications.
Applicants who meet the academic eligibility criteria will be required to indicate their qualification status and provide supporting documentation, with an official certificate required at a later stage.
