Job Overview
Nairobi Central Hardware Ltd is looking for an organized and commercially minded Procurement Manager to oversee and improve the company’s purchasing operations. The role will focus on securing quality materials at competitive prices, managing supplier relationships, maintaining appropriate stock levels, and ensuring procurement activities follow established policies.
The successful candidate should be proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of supporting business performance through efficient and cost-conscious procurement.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
Develop and implement effective procurement strategies, policies, and procedures.
Manage purchasing activities from the initial requisition through to final delivery.
Research, assess, and select suppliers based on pricing, product quality, reliability, and other relevant factors.
Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers.
Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
Monitor supplier performance and address supply issues, disputes, or service concerns.
Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely replenishment.
Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure materials are delivered when required.
Cost Management
Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to identify opportunities for savings.
Introduce cost-control measures while maintaining required quality standards.
Compliance and Documentation
Keep procurement records and supporting documentation accurate and current.
Prepare procurement reports and track relevant performance indicators.
Monitor and tabulate changes in supplier and market prices.
Risk Management
Track market price movements and communicate with suppliers regarding potential shortages and stock-outs.
Monitor seasonal products and identify suitable sources and potential suppliers.
Identify procurement and supply-related risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Develop contingency arrangements to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions.
Stakeholder Coordination
Work with internal departments to understand and address their procurement requirements.
Provide advice and support on appropriate procurement practices.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional procurement certification such as CIPS is an added advantage.
At least 3 years of procurement experience, preferably within the hardware industry.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with Tally ERP is an added advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of applicable local procurement regulations.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management

Supplier Relationship Management
Develop and maintain productive relationships with important suppliers.

Ensure procurement records and supporting documents are properly maintained and regularly updated.
Prepare reports covering purchasing activities and performance measures.
Record and tabulate changes in product and supplier pricing.
Risk Management
Monitor market price fluctuations and maintain communication with suppliers regarding shortages and possible stock-outs.
Track seasonal products and identify potential sources and suppliers.
Assess procurement risks and implement measures to minimize their impact.
Prepare contingency plans for possible supply chain interruptions.
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with internal teams to understand their purchasing requirements.
Guide departments on effective procurement practices and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Procurement certification such as CIPS is an added advantage.
Minimum 3 years of relevant procurement experience, preferably in the hardware sector.
Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Tally ERP experience is an added advantage.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of local procurement regulations.
