Face-To-Face Fundraiser
CRM, Systems and Data Specialist
Médecins Sans Frontières Jobs in Nairobi: Fundraising, Donor Relations and CRM Roles
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has several opportunities in Nairobi for professionals working in fundraising, donor engagement, data, technology and business development. The vacancies cover three distinct areas: donor relationship management, face-to-face fundraising and CRM systems and data.
Although all three positions contribute to fundraising activities, their day-to-day work is quite different. One focuses heavily on relationships with donors and Islamic philanthropy, another involves engaging members of the public directly to secure donations, while the third is a technical position responsible for the systems and data that support fundraising operations.
The vacancies are available at different experience levels, making them relevant to professionals with backgrounds ranging from customer engagement and fundraising to advanced CRM administration and data analysis.
Donor Relationship Officer
The Donor Relationship Officer position is based in Nairobi and is intended for a professional with at least two years of relevant experience. The role focuses heavily on developing and maintaining relationships with donors, with particular attention to Islamic philanthropy.
The person appointed will support the acquisition, engagement and stewardship of individual, corporate, foundation and major donors. A personal portfolio of high-value and prospective donors will be managed, with tailored approaches developed according to the needs and circumstances of different donors.
Communication is a significant part of the work. The officer will prepare personalised donor communications, thank-you letters, impact reports and other stewardship materials. Donor meetings, briefings, cultivation events and field or site visits will also form part of the engagement process.
The officer will need to monitor how donors respond to different engagement activities and use feedback and giving behaviour to improve stewardship approaches.
Focus on Islamic Philanthropy
A distinctive feature of this position is its focus on Islamic philanthropy.
The officer will contribute to the implementation of MSF Eastern Africa's Islamic philanthropy strategy, including annual targets, priority donor segments and fundraising channels.
The work involves identifying and developing relationships with Islamic philanthropy networks, Zakat institutions, Waqf funds, mosques and Muslim foundations that are relevant to MSF's work.
The role will also support Ramadan and Zakat fundraising campaigns in collaboration with communications, programmes and fundraising teams.
There is a strong partnership element as well. The officer may represent MSF in discussions with Islamic charitable organisations, faith-based community groups and diaspora networks, including the Somali diaspora.
Fundraising messages and materials must be culturally and theologically sensitive and consistent with Islamic giving principles. The officer will also represent MSF at relevant faith-based, philanthropic and community forums.
Growing the Donor Pipeline
Beyond maintaining existing relationships, the position involves identifying new prospects and partnership opportunities.
The officer will contribute to income growth by developing funding proposals, concept notes and pitch materials for donors, foundations and institutions. Prospect research will include Islamic philanthropic organisations and high-net-worth Muslim donors across Eastern Africa.
Accurate donor information will need to be maintained in the CRM system, while reports and briefing materials will be prepared for senior management and the Fundraising team.
The role also requires compliance with MSF policies, due diligence requirements and applicable regulations when handling donor engagement and gifts.
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Communications, Islamic Studies, Business Administration or a related field. Strong knowledge of Islamic philanthropy mechanisms such as Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf is a core requirement.
The vacancy closes on 14 October 2026.
Face-to-Face Fundraiser
The Face-to-Face Fundraiser position takes fundraising directly into the field. Based in Nairobi, the role involves approaching members of the public at assigned locations and introducing them to MSF's humanitarian work.
This is a contract, full-time position requiring at least one year of relevant experience and a minimum qualification of a Diploma.
The fundraiser will speak with members of the public, explain MSF's work and encourage interested individuals to support the organisation through regular monthly giving or a single donation.
The conversations need to be accurate and professional. Fundraisers will explain MSF's humanitarian mission, programmes and emergency responses in Eastern Africa and elsewhere, including work connected to health crises, conflicts and outbreaks.
Engaging Potential Donors
Not everyone approached will immediately understand MSF's work or be interested in giving. The fundraiser will therefore need to listen carefully, answer questions and handle objections professionally.
Donor sign-ups must be processed using MSF-approved forms, digital tools and donation channels.
The role is also target-driven. The fundraiser will be expected to meet agreed daily KPIs covering donor sign-ups and the quality of engagement.
Accuracy remains important after the conversation ends. Donor information, consent and other required details must be captured correctly and handled according to donor management and data protection procedures.
Questions or complaints that fall outside the fundraiser's responsibilities should be referred appropriately, while recurring concerns and feedback from the public should be communicated to the supervisor.
Working as a Field Team
The fundraiser will work as part of a four-person face-to-face pilot team. Training, briefings, coaching and debrief meetings are part of the working arrangement.
The deployment schedule includes structured Friday, Saturday and Sunday work during the pilot. Fundraisers must also maintain professional conduct and follow the agreed field procedures.
The role requires fluency in English and Swahili, while additional languages are an advantage. Previous experience in sales, customer engagement, fundraising or community outreach is particularly relevant.
The vacancy closes on 7 October 2026.
CRM, Systems and Data Specialist
The third opportunity is considerably more technical. The CRM, Systems and Data Specialist will be responsible for the management and development of MSF Eastern Africa's CRM and fundraising systems.
The position reports functionally and hierarchically to the Head of Fundraising and involves working across Fundraising, Communications, Finance, ICT and external technology suppliers.
The person in this role will serve as the main internal administrator and focal point for the CRM and connected fundraising systems. This includes managing user access, permissions, configurations, troubleshooting and documentation.
A major part of the work involves understanding how the CRM connects with other systems. These can include online donation platforms, payment systems, finance tools, websites, marketing automation platforms and telemarketing systems.
Data Is at the Centre
The specialist will oversee the processing of donor data, including imports, updates, transactions, reconciliations, extracts and transfers between systems.
Data quality will need to be monitored continuously. The role includes cleansing information, validating records, identifying errors and developing controls that prevent recurring data problems.
Because donor information is sensitive, the specialist will also work on data protection, retention, access controls and responsible use of donor information in accordance with applicable requirements and MSF policies.
Improving the CRM
This is not simply an administration position. The specialist will also help shape how the CRM develops.
The role includes identifying gaps in systems and processes, proposing improvements, managing development projects and coordinating integrations, workflows, segmentation, reporting and automation.
The specialist will translate fundraising requirements into technical and business specifications that can be understood by ICT teams and external suppliers.
User acceptance testing, frontline testing, troubleshooting and implementation of system changes will also fall within the position.
The specialist will help assess CRM solutions and support decisions about technology investment, ensuring that the chosen systems can meet current and future fundraising requirements.
Turning Data Into Fundraising Insight
Another major component is analysis.
The specialist will examine donor, campaign, channel and digital data to identify trends, opportunities and risks. Reports and dashboards will cover areas such as income, acquisition, conversion, retention, attrition, reactivation, upgrades, average gift and donor lifetime value.
The information will then be translated into recommendations that fundraising and communications teams can use.
Donor segmentation and profiling will also be developed to improve targeting and personalisation. The position will support A/B testing and campaign optimisation through data analysis.
Digital Fundraising and Automation
The role also connects CRM data with digital fundraising activities.
The specialist will support automated email flows and multi-channel donor journeys covering acquisition, onboarding, conversion, retention, reactivation and upgrading donors.
Digital donation platforms, payment solutions, landing pages, forms, tracking and CRM integrations will need to work effectively together.
The specialist will also support campaign tracking, attribution, tagging and data capture across digital fundraising channels.
Qualifications for the Technical Position
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, information systems, computer science, marketing, business administration or a related field.
At least three to five years of professional experience in CRM administration, development, data management, analytics or a related systems role is required.
The position calls for hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Brevo, Active Campaign or similar systems.
Experience with CRM integrations, dashboards, data analysis, segmentation, campaign performance, API-based integrations, data migration and system implementation is also required.
Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or similar business intelligence tools is expected. Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning or predictive analytics is an advantage, as is knowledge of Google Analytics/GA4, digital attribution, payment platforms and online donation systems.
Experience in fundraising, nonprofit or humanitarian environments will also be relevant.
The vacancy closes on 15 October 2026.
Three Different Career Paths
These MSF opportunities cover three separate areas of work within fundraising.
The Donor Relationship Officer focuses on building donor relationships, developing partnerships and growing Islamic philanthropy. The Face-to-Face Fundraiser works directly with members of the public to generate donor support in the field. The CRM, Systems and Data Specialist works behind the fundraising operation, making sure the technology, data and systems support effective donor management and income generation.
Candidates should therefore assess each position according to its specific academic, professional and technical requirements before applying.
