Job Purpose
The Security Manager will lead the organization’s security function and Security Control Tower, overseeing physical and remote security operations across assigned Royal Mabati Factory Limited and Heritage Mabati sites and fleet operations.
The role will focus on protecting employees, contractors, visitors, company property, raw materials, finished products, vehicles, and facilities through effective surveillance, access control, incident management, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and coordination of security service providers. The position will work closely with Operations, Fleet, Loss Control, HSE, HR, ICT, and other relevant departments.
Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy, Policies and Procedures
Develop, implement, and regularly review security policies, standards, post orders, and emergency response procedures.
Establish security controls for employees, contractors, visitors, drivers, suppliers, vehicles, materials, finished goods, and restricted areas.
Promote security awareness and recommend improvements based on risk assessments, incidents, emerging trends, and operational changes.
Physical Security Operations
Oversee security coverage across assigned factories, offices, warehouses, yards, and other vulnerable locations.
Monitor guard deployment, patrols, post compliance, alarm responses, emergencies, and security incidents.
Conduct regular site inspections and ensure identified security weaknesses are documented, escalated, and resolved.
Security Personnel and Contractor Management
Manage outsourced security providers and monitor their compliance with agreed service levels, deployment plans, and contractual obligations.
Monitor guard attendance, deployment, discipline, grooming, training, post instructions, and operational preparedness.
Conduct regular performance reviews with security providers and recommend corrective measures where required.
Security Control Tower and Remote Monitoring
Lead the Security Control Tower as the central point for remote monitoring of assigned company locations and fleet operations.
Monitor CCTV, alarms, access-control systems, fleet tracking, dashcams, fuel-monitoring systems, and other approved security technologies.
Establish and maintain alert thresholds, escalation processes, and response timelines for security, fleet, and asset-related exceptions.
Monitor unauthorized access, route deviations, suspicious vehicle activity, unusual fuel consumption, tampering, and other identified security risks.
Assess and validate alerts where possible before escalation and ensure incidents are properly recorded and followed through to closure.
Access, Gate and Visitor Management
Oversee access procedures for employees, contractors, visitors, drivers, and suppliers, including identification and authorization requirements.
Manage entry and exit points, keys, access cards, gate passes, and restricted areas in accordance with approved procedures.
Ensure suitable controls are applied to vehicles, loading and dispatch areas, material movements, and other high-risk access points.
CCTV, Alarm and Electronic Security Systems
Oversee the operation, availability, and monitoring of CCTV, alarms, electronic access control, and other security technologies.
Identify surveillance blind spots, technical weaknesses, and system gaps and coordinate corrective action with ICT and approved service providers.
Ensure security footage is retained appropriately and that access to security records is properly controlled.
Security Risk Assessment and Loss Prevention
Conduct scheduled security risk assessments, inspections, and audits across assigned sites.
Identify threats, vulnerabilities, and unsafe security conditions and develop practical measures to mitigate them.
Monitor security risks and corrective actions through to closure.
Provide management with escalation reports on significant or recurring security risks.
Incident Response and Investigation
Coordinate responses to theft, security breaches, vandalism, unauthorized access, and other incidents.
Preserve relevant evidence where necessary.
Review CCTV footage, access records, patrol information, statements, and other available evidence during investigations.
Prepare investigation reports outlining established facts, contributing factors, and recommended corrective or preventive measures.
Coordinate with Loss Control, HR, HSE, Operations, or law enforcement where appropriate.
Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Response
Develop and test security-related emergency procedures.
Coordinate security drills and simulations.
Support evacuation, crisis management, and business continuity arrangements from a security perspective.
Liaise with police, fire services, medical teams, and other emergency responders during critical incidents.
Maintain appropriate emergency contact information.
Security, Fire and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure security operations comply with applicable Kenyan security requirements and company policies.
Support fire and occupational safety requirements within the security function.
Coordinate with the responsible HSE and Fire Safety functions on specialist matters.
Maintain security registers, records, and documentation required for audits and internal reviews.
Security Resources, Budget and Administration
Prepare and manage the security department budget within approved limits.
Ensure security resources are used efficiently.
Monitor security equipment, uniforms, communication devices, access-control assets, and other operational resources.
Verify security service deployment and supporting records for management review and contractor performance monitoring.
Reporting, Analytics and Continuous Improvement
Submit timely reports covering security incidents, risks, operations, and contractor performance.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, patrols, visitors, access violations, investigations, security risks, and corrective actions.
Analyse security trends and recommend improvements aimed at reducing recurring incidents and vulnerabilities.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work with Operations and Site/Factory Management on security requirements and controls.
Coordinate with HR on people-related issues arising from security incidents.
Work with Loss Control on loss-prevention matters and operational controls.
Coordinate with ICT on electronic security systems.
Work with HSE on safety, fire, and emergency preparedness.
Escalate significant security risks, incidents, and unresolved control weaknesses through the approved management structure.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminology, Security Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certification such as CPP, PSP, CSMP, or an equivalent security qualification is an added advantage.
At least 7 years of progressive security experience.
Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience within a multi-site, manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, commercial, or similar operational environment.
Demonstrated experience in physical security operations, security contractor management, incident investigations, electronic security systems, and emergency planning.
Working knowledge of applicable Kenyan security, safety, and emergency-response requirements.
Key Competencies

Structural Engineer Intern

Job Purpose
The Structural Engineer Intern will support the engineering team in designing, analysing, and assessing roofing and structural systems. The role provides practical exposure to project coordination, material evaluation, structural design, and compliance with relevant industry standards.
The intern will contribute to ongoing projects by assisting with the development of safe, efficient, and innovative roofing and building solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Drafting Support
Assist with preparing shop drawings and layouts for roofing structures.
Support structural design and modelling activities using VertexBD, Tekla Structures, and Bentley RAM Systems under supervision.
Assist senior engineers with structural calculations, design, analysis, and detailing.
Project Coordination
Support scheduling, documentation, and communication for ongoing projects.
Coordinate with project stakeholders and internal departments to facilitate timely exchange of technical information.
Assist in preparing project reports and design documentation.
Site Support and Inspection
Participate in site visits to collect field information and carry out basic measurements.
Observe construction activities and assist in monitoring the quality and structural compliance of ongoing works.
Record site observations and report identified issues to the supervising engineer for corrective action.
Research and Development
Assist in assessing new roofing materials and technologies with a focus on efficiency and sustainability.
Conduct literature and market research covering structural innovations and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, preferably at final-year level or as a recent graduate.
Basic knowledge of building standards, including Eurocodes and the National Building Code.
Industrial attachment or academic project experience in design or construction is an added advantage.
Awareness of roofing systems and Light Gauge Steel structural design.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
Exposure to structural design, analysis, and detailing software such as Tekla Structures, STAAD.Pro, or VertexBD.
