Senior Exports Supervisor Job Opportunity in Mombasa
A Senior Exports Supervisor is required to oversee export operations in Mombasa, with responsibility for making sure customer requirements are handled efficiently and that export activities are completed according to company standards. The position brings together operational supervision, customer service, compliance, reporting, team leadership and support for business development.
The role is suited to an experienced professional who understands export operations within the logistics, freight forwarding, transport or supply chain environment and has previously supervised a team.
Keeping Export Operations Moving
The main responsibility of the Senior Exports Supervisor will be to ensure that daily export activities run smoothly. This involves coordinating the different stages involved in serving customers and making sure that work is completed within the expected timelines.
Export operations can involve several activities taking place at the same time. The successful candidate will therefore coordinate documentation, customs clearance, shipping, transportation and warehouse activities. Close attention will be required to ensure that each part of the process supports the next and that customer requirements are not unnecessarily delayed.
The supervisor will also monitor operational performance and use available information to identify areas where corrective action is needed. Where operational risks or service problems arise, they will need to be escalated promptly so that appropriate action can be taken.
Looking After Customers
Customer relationships are another important part of the position. The Senior Exports Supervisor will maintain relationships with existing clients and help ensure that customers receive consistent and satisfactory service.
Customer concerns will need to be handled within agreed service levels. This requires the supervisor to understand the issue, coordinate with the relevant teams and ensure that the matter is addressed appropriately.
The position will also involve conducting client service reviews and supporting initiatives designed to retain customers. Where required, the supervisor will support tariff reviews and their implementation.
The customer-facing nature of the position means that the successful candidate must be able to combine operational knowledge with effective communication and relationship management.
Compliance Is Part of the Daily Work
Export operations must be carried out in accordance with applicable customs requirements, KRA requirements and internal company procedures. The Senior Exports Supervisor will therefore have responsibility for ensuring that processes and documentation meet the required standards.
The role includes coordinating the submission of bond returns and other statutory documentation. Accuracy will be important because incomplete or incorrect documentation can affect the smooth running of export activities.
The supervisor will also support internal and external audits. This includes helping ensure that operational records and supporting documents are properly maintained and that processes can be reviewed when required.
Measuring the Department's Performance
The person appointed will also be responsible for keeping management informed about export operations through regular reporting.
Daily, weekly and monthly operational reports will be prepared. These reports will provide information about departmental performance, productivity and other relevant operational indicators.
The Senior Exports Supervisor will monitor KPIs and analyse operational trends. Rather than simply recording figures, the role requires the successful candidate to use performance information to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend appropriate actions.
Accurate operational records will also need to be maintained. Good record keeping will support reporting, customer service, compliance and decision-making across the department.
Supporting Business Growth
Although the position is strongly focused on operations, it also has a business development component.
The Senior Exports Supervisor will support the identification of new business opportunities and may participate in activities designed to attract or establish new customers. This includes preparing quotations and operational proposals.
The successful candidate may also participate in customer visits where necessary. When new customer accounts are secured, the supervisor will support their implementation and help ensure that the operational side of the relationship is properly established.
This means the role requires an understanding of how efficient export operations contribute to customer retention and wider business growth.
Leading the Exports Team
The Senior Exports Supervisor will not only coordinate processes but also supervise the people responsible for carrying them out.
The position includes allocating work, monitoring productivity, coaching team members and supporting their professional development. Performance discussions will form part of the role, with continuous feedback used to help employees understand expectations and areas where improvement may be needed.
The supervisor will also identify training requirements and support initiatives designed to improve team capability.
An important part of the position will be ensuring that employees follow company policies and operational standards. The supervisor will therefore help create a working environment where accountability, efficiency and consistent service are maintained.
Improving How Work Is Done
The company is also looking for someone who can identify opportunities to make export operations more efficient.
The Senior Exports Supervisor will look for ways to improve processes and reduce unnecessary operational costs. Where opportunities are identified, the supervisor will support or champion process improvement initiatives.
This requires the ability to look beyond individual tasks and understand how different parts of an operation connect. Improvements may involve changes in how activities are coordinated, monitored or managed.
Who Can Apply?
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
Candidates should have at least eight years of experience in export operations within the logistics, freight forwarding, transport or supply chain management industry. In addition, at least three years of experience managing a team at supervisory level is required.
The ideal candidate will therefore bring substantial practical export experience together with proven supervisory exposure.
This is a full-time opportunity based in Mombasa. It is particularly relevant to professionals who have developed their careers around export operations and are ready to take responsibility for daily service delivery, customer relationships, compliance, reporting, business support and team performance.
