CWC NURSE
Job Summary
The CWC Nurse will provide comprehensive maternal, newborn and child health services at the facility. The role will oversee Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) and Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) activities while ensuring quality care, proper documentation, health education and effective follow-up of mothers and children.
Key Responsibilities
Provide antenatal services, including maternal assessments, counselling, health education and routine monitoring.
Assist with normal deliveries and manage emergency deliveries for clients who arrive at the facility during the second stage of labour.
Provide postnatal services, including breastfeeding support, family planning counselling and newborn-care education.
Identify high-risk pregnancy and postpartum conditions and provide appropriate management or referrals.
Conduct routine procedures such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart-rate monitoring and vaginal examinations.
Administer maternal immunization services, including tetanus vaccination, according to the recommended schedule.
Provide family planning information and services, including long-acting reversible contraceptive methods.
Offer post-abortion care as well as cervical cancer screening and treatment services.
Monitor newborns for complications and provide appropriate interventions.
Support breastfeeding and advise mothers on suitable nutrition options.
Link vulnerable newborns to appropriate nutrition services following assessment.
Provide treatment for common neonatal conditions and administer recommended vaccinations.
Deliver childhood immunization services in line with the EPI schedule.
Assess and manage common childhood illnesses, including malaria, pneumonia and diarrheal diseases.
Conduct growth monitoring and promote healthy child development through CWC services.
Provide nutrition counselling to mothers, caregivers and children.
Maintain complete and accurate patient records and submit required maternal, newborn and child health reports on time.
Participate in clinical audits, continuing medical education sessions and other facility learning activities.
Support the training, mentorship and supervision of junior nursing staff.
Conduct health education sessions covering maternal, newborn and child health.
Participate in community outreach activities aimed at improving healthcare-seeking behaviour.
Work with other clinical staff to ensure adequate service coverage when required.
Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience
KRCHN, KRN or KRM qualification.
Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
At least one year of experience working in a busy maternal and child health department or clinic.
Training in Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care or respectful maternal and newborn care is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge and practical skills in maternal and child healthcare.
Ability to remain effective when working under pressure and in challenging environments.
Good communication and interpersonal abilities.

MEAL OFFICER
Job Summary
The MEAL Officer will oversee Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning activities for the IRC Ebola Virus Disease preparedness programme serving refugee and host communities in high-risk areas of Kenya. The position will strengthen data systems, quality assurance, accountability mechanisms and reporting while working with county health structures, health facilities, points of entry and community teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support implementation of MEAL systems at county and refugee-settlement level in accordance with the programme strategy.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with county health departments, sub-county structures, health facilities, points of entry and community health promoters.
Participate in relevant technical and coordination forums as delegated.
Help programme teams and county stakeholders use data to guide decisions and improve implementation.
Implement the MEAL plan, results framework, indicator tracking table and means-of-verification systems.
Develop and maintain appropriate data collection tools for programme activities.
Establish and manage digital data collection systems using platforms such as Kobo, CommCare or ODK.
Monitor programme indicators and ensure appropriate sex and age disaggregation.
Conduct routine data quality checks, verification exercises and audits at facilities, screening points and community units.
Maintain documentation that connects reported results with supporting evidence such as registers, stock records, attendance sheets, delivery documentation and supervision reports.
Prepare county-level data summaries, dashboards and reports for programme reviews and donor reporting.
Establish and maintain community feedback and complaints mechanisms.
Maintain records of community concerns, rumours and misinformation and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Support baseline, midline, endline and other programme assessments and evaluations.
Document lessons, successful approaches and areas requiring improvement for programme adaptation.
Train and mentor community health promoters, data clerks, enumerators and other staff on MEAL processes and data quality.
Support onboarding and capacity building of data collectors and facility focal persons.
Promote awareness of IRC feedback and complaints channels among communities and stakeholders.
Conduct focus group discussions and stakeholder consultations to gather feedback and ensure sensitive issues are referred through appropriate channels.
Key Working Relationships
Reports to the County Area Coordinator.
Receives technical guidance from the MEAL/Measurement Lead where applicable.
Works closely with IRC county teams, technical staff and field teams.
Engages externally with county health departments, health facilities, community health promoters, point-of-entry teams and partner organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics, monitoring and evaluation or another relevant field.
Three to four years of experience in MEAL-related work, preferably in humanitarian health, public health or emergency preparedness programmes.
Experience working with results frameworks, indicator tracking systems and means-of-verification processes.
Practical knowledge of Kobo, CommCare or ODK Collect and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with EPI Info, STATA, Power BI or comparable analytical tools is an added advantage.
Strong data analysis, verification and quality assurance abilities.
Experience establishing complaints, feedback and accountability mechanisms.
Good communication, coordination and training skills.
Knowledge of data protection and safeguarding personally identifiable information.
Willingness to travel extensively within assigned counties and refugee settlements.
Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

EMERGENCY MANAGER
Job Summary
The Emergency Manager will oversee Disaster Risk Reduction and emergency response projects, providing technical and operational leadership in the delivery of safe water, sanitation and hygiene interventions. The position will work with communities, government authorities, partners and contractors to ensure projects are effectively planned, implemented, monitored and aligned with humanitarian standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Design
Lead rapid needs assessments and baseline exercises for emergency interventions.
Identify technically suitable water, sanitation and hygiene solutions based on assessment findings.
Develop technical specifications, procedures and SOPs for emergency response activities.
Design implementation approaches in consultation with emergency response and field management teams.
Identify potential project and disaster-related risks and support appropriate mitigation measures.
Ensure emergency projects remain aligned with IRC's country strategy and priorities.
Project Implementation
Manage emergency response projects within approved budgets, schedules and objectives.
Monitor project implementation and supervise technical activities from design through completion.
Review tender documentation, including technical specifications, bills of quantities, drawings and terms of reference.
Integrate disaster risk reduction, community participation and accountability throughout project implementation.
Manage contracts involving consultants, contractors and suppliers.
Maintain effective relationships with partners, contractors, stakeholders and project beneficiaries.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Work with MEAL teams to establish appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems.
Ensure activities comply with IRC policies, approved SOPs, government regulations, donor requirements and humanitarian standards.
Monitor project timelines and ensure timely processing of payments to suppliers, consultants and contractors.
Maintain current work plans, logframes, risk registers, implementation plans and financial forecasts.
Ensure water safety and disaster risk management plans are developed and maintained for water supply projects.
Track project activities and indicators and ensure relevant documentation remains current.
Record lessons learned and effective practices for future programming.
Participate in inter-sectoral initiatives and undertake additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Fundraising and Partnerships
Contribute to the preparation of new proposals in line with the country strategic plan.
Participate in humanitarian networks, UN cluster meetings and relevant government engagements.
Represent IRC appropriately in relevant emergency response coordination forums.
Reporting
Prepare accurate and timely reports covering emergency response activities.
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and final project reporting.
Provide management with regular updates on project progress and implementation against approved plans.
Maintain accurate activity and indicator tracking records.
Document programme lessons and best practices.
Staff Management
Ensure emergency response staff comply with IRC policies, values, code of conduct and operating procedures.

Identify staff capacity-building needs and facilitate appropriate training.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Environmental Health Science, Community Development, Social Development, Nursing, Public Health or a related discipline.
At least three years of relevant experience in WASH, public health, community development, humanitarian programming or emergency response.
Strong understanding of humanitarian standards, disease outbreaks and emergency response approaches.
Experience conducting community engagement, participatory activities and community negotiations.
Ability to conduct humanitarian needs assessments and support programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work effectively with teams and communities in challenging environments.

INVESTMENT MANAGER – AIRBEL VENTURES (KENYA)
Job Summary
Airbel Ventures, the impact investment arm of the International Rescue Committee, invests in early-stage businesses across Africa and selected MENA markets whose solutions can improve humanitarian outcomes. The Investment Manager will identify investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, support portfolio companies and contribute to the development of investment strategies across sectors including climate, health, education and economic opportunity.
The role will also use AI tools to improve research and analytical efficiency while ensuring that all AI-assisted outputs are carefully reviewed for accuracy and alignment with IRC's standards.
Key Responsibilities
Identify promising startups and develop relationships with founders, accelerators, incubators and investors across Africa.
Lead investment due diligence covering markets, financial performance, business models, impact potential and risk.
Prepare investment memoranda for consideration by the Investment Committee.
Support portfolio companies with strategic advice, fundraising assistance and impact measurement after investment.
Work with IRC country programmes and technical teams to create traction and practical applications for portfolio companies within humanitarian settings.
Contribute to sector mapping and development of investment theses across Airbel Ventures' priority areas.
Represent Airbel Ventures at investor meetings, conferences, ecosystem events and other relevant engagements.
Build and maintain relationships across the African venture capital and startup ecosystem.
Coordinate internal IRC stakeholders throughout the investment and post-investment process.
Support the Managing Partner with fundraising, portfolio strategy and broader stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications and Experience
Must have the legal right to work in Kenya.
Six to eight years of experience in venture capital, impact investing, development finance, management consulting or a related area.
Demonstrated experience working on impact investment projects.
Proven ability to manage investment due diligence from initial sourcing through closing.
Established networks and experience within African startup ecosystems.
Strong financial modelling and financial analysis capabilities.
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
Genuine interest in impact investing and innovation serving underserved and frontier markets.
