SPECIALISED NURSING CARE – LOCUM – 100 POSTS
Job Requirements
Candidates applying for the Specialised Nursing Care – Locum positions should meet the following requirements:
Hold a Kenya Registered Nurse or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse Diploma from a recognised medical training college.
Be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Possess a valid practising licence.
Hold a higher diploma in one of the following specialised areas:
Kenya Registered Peri-operative Nursing
Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing
Kenya Registered Oncology Nursing with Palliative Care
Kenya Registered Paediatric/Neonatal Nursing
Areas of Specialised Nursing Care
The successful candidates may provide nursing services in the following areas:
Perioperative care
Critical care
Paediatric and neonatal care
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Renal care
Oncology care
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records of patients’ health conditions and care provided.
The role will also involve ensuring that the clinical environment remains clean, safe, and suitable for the provision of patient care.
Nurses will be expected to assess and evaluate healthcare outcomes and prepare individualised reports based on patient care.
They will plan and implement appropriate nursing interventions in line with patients’ identified needs.
The role will also involve implementing recommendations arising from research findings to support improvements in relevant nursing care practices.
REGISTERED NURSE – LOCUM – 200 POSTS
Job Requirements
Applicants for the Registered Nurse – Locum positions should meet the following requirements:
Hold a Diploma in any of the following disciplines from a recognised institution:
Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing
Kenya Registered Nursing
Kenya Registered Midwifery
Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery
Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry
Possess a Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Have a valid practising licence issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for assessing patients, developing appropriate care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes.
The role will involve providing appropriate healthcare services, including Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), immunisation, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), antenatal care, delivery services, administration of treatment, and dispensing of medicines.
The nurse will provide health education and counselling to patients, clients, and members of the community based on identified health needs. Where necessary, patients and clients will be referred to the appropriate services.
The role will also involve facilitating patient admissions and initiating discharge plans.
Nurses will maintain accurate records relating to patients’ and clients’ health conditions and care provided.
They will ensure that clinical environments are clean, orderly, and safe for both patients and healthcare workers.
The role will also involve collecting and compiling relevant health data.
NURSING OFFICER – LOCUM – 200 POSTS
Job Requirements
Candidates applying for Nursing Officer – Locum positions should meet the following requirements:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised institution.
Possess a Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Have a valid practising licence issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Nursing Officer will provide comprehensive nursing care by identifying and assessing health risks affecting individuals throughout the different stages of life.
The role will involve conducting comprehensive physical examinations in various healthcare settings.
The officer will assess patients, formulate care plans, and implement evidence-based nursing interventions according to identified patient needs.
The position will also require the creation and maintenance of a safe environment for the provision of nursing care to clients and patients.
The Nursing Officer will conduct clinical audits aimed at improving the quality of patient and client care.
The role will involve working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and maintaining effective professional relationships to support patients, clients, and their families.
The officer will use appropriate therapeutic communication when interacting with patients and clients.
The role will also include conducting community health risk assessments and implementing interventions based on identified outcomes.
Accurate documentation of nursing interventions and patient outcomes will be required.
The Nursing Officer will participate in quality improvement and quality assurance activities and procedures.
MEDICAL OFFICER – LOCUM – 50 POSTS
Job Requirements
Applicants for the Medical Officer – Locum positions should meet the following requirements:
Hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) degree from an institution recognised by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Have successfully completed a one-year internship and be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Possess a valid registration licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Medical Officer will be responsible for diagnosing, managing, and treating diseases and other medical conditions.
The role will involve performing medical and surgical procedures as required.
The officer will participate in preparing for and responding to emergencies and disasters.
The position will also involve participating in the management and appropriate use of medicines, medical instruments, and medical equipment.
The Medical Officer will provide health education to patients and relevant individuals.
The role will require maintaining accurate medical records, health information, and relevant data.
The officer will counsel patients and their relatives regarding diagnoses and provide appropriate support relating to bereavement.
The Medical Officer will also participate in teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students, and clinical officer interns.
The role will include preparing the necessary documents required for registration.
