The Opportunity:
The Driver will offer safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services to support the organization's programs and operations.
This role ensures that transport policies, donor compliance, and road safety rules are followed, and it also assists with administrative and logistical tasks when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Safe and Responsible Driving
Safely drive the assigned organization vehicles while following national traffic laws and organizational transport policies.
Ensure the safety and security of all passengers, including staff, visitors, consultants, and other authorized individuals.
Use defensive driving methods and always stay alert to your surroundings.
Transport staff and materials to field locations, partner sites, and official events as instructed.
Take care in all driving tasks, following journey management protocols when necessary.
Vehicle Management and Maintenance
Keep the assigned vehicles clean, in good condition, and well-maintained at all times.
Perform daily vehicle checks before and after trips and report any issues quickly.
Ensure that servicing and maintenance are done on time in coordination with the transport/administration team.
Monitor fuel use and follow organizational policies to be efficient and accountable.
Protect organizational assets by properly using and caring for assigned vehicles.
Documentation, Reporting & Compliance
Minimum Requirements
Education & Certification
Minimum KCSE D+ or equivalent.
Valid driving license (Classes B, C & E) or equivalent.
Valid AA Driving Certificate or equivalent defensive driving certification.
Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
Experience
At least 4 years of professional driving experience, preferably in an NGO, donor-funded, or corporate setting.
Skills & Competencies
Good knowledge of Kenyan roads, especially rural and field routes.
Strong knowledge of road safety laws and defensive driving techniques.
Ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
Attention to detail in record keeping and documentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle pressure and safely manage long-distance travel.
High integrity, reliability, and sense of responsibility.
