Aga Khan Education Service Kenya Jobs: Teaching, ICT, Marketing and Admissions Vacancies
Aga Khan Education Service Kenya has several full-time job openings across its schools in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. The vacancies cover classroom teaching, swimming and physical education, ICT support, communications and marketing, as well as student admissions and administration.
The positions have different academic and professional requirements. Some are aimed at teachers with one to two years of experience, while others require specialised experience in areas such as swimming instruction, ICT infrastructure, school admissions or communications.
For professionals looking to work within a school environment, the vacancies provide opportunities across both academic and non-teaching departments.
Teacher – Mathematics and PHE – Kisumu
The Mathematics and Physical Health Education teaching position is based in Kisumu and requires a teacher who can handle both subjects while supporting learners beyond classroom instruction.
The teacher will prepare and deliver lessons in line with the school's vision and mission and work with colleagues when developing unit and lesson plans. The teaching approach is expected to take into account differences among learners, meaning lessons should be adjusted according to individual learning needs.
The position also involves maintaining academic documentation such as unit plans, records of work, course outlines and class analyses.
Learners are expected to participate actively in different learning activities, with their completed work displayed in the classroom to showcase their abilities and projects. The teacher will also plan regular excursions to expose learners to different environments.
There is an important pastoral element to the position. The teacher will observe learners' behaviour, encourage self-confidence and help them develop social values. Learners experiencing learning differences or behavioural challenges will also require guidance.
Progress must be monitored and updated, with reports prepared for parents.
Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Education (Arts) in Mathematics and Physical Education and have attained at least a B- at O-level. TSC registration is required, together with one to two years of teaching experience. Candidates should understand the new Competency Based Education system and be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications. The ability to teach another subject is an added advantage.
Teacher – IRE and Kiswahili – Mombasa
Another teaching vacancy is available in Mombasa for a teacher handling Islamic Religious Education and Kiswahili.
The responsibilities are centred on lesson preparation and delivery, curriculum planning and helping learners develop the knowledge and skills required for their continued education and future careers.
Like the other classroom teaching position, the teacher will prepare unit plans, records of work, course outlines and class analyses. Lessons should be differentiated according to learners' needs, while students should be given opportunities to participate in different activities.
The position also includes supporting learners' personal development. The teacher will observe behaviour, help build confidence and teach social values, while providing support to learners with learning differences and behavioural challenges.
Learner progress needs to be monitored and communicated through reports to parents. Classroom work can also be displayed to recognise students' abilities and completed projects, while excursions can be organised to provide exposure to different environments.
The required qualification is a PTE Certificate, also known as a P1 Certificate, from KNEC, with a minimum B- at O-level. A Bachelor's degree in Education is an added advantage. Candidates must be registered with TSC and have one to two years of teaching experience. Knowledge of Competency Based Education and Microsoft Office is also required.
Teacher – Lower Primary – Mombasa
A Lower Primary teaching position is also available in Mombasa.
The work involves preparing and delivering lessons, developing curriculum and lesson plans with colleagues and monitoring how learners are progressing. The teacher will need to adapt lessons to accommodate different learning needs and involve pupils in a variety of learning activities.
Classroom presentation is also part of the role, including displaying learners' work and finished projects. The teacher may also organise excursions to expose children to environments beyond the classroom.
The position goes beyond academic instruction. Teachers are expected to observe children's behaviour, help develop self-confidence and introduce social values. Learners facing learning differences or behavioural challenges will require additional guidance.
Parents will also receive reports on learner progress, making accurate record keeping an important part of the work.
Candidates should have a P1 Certificate or an ECDE Diploma. A Bachelor's degree in Education is an added advantage. TSC registration and one to two years of teaching experience are required, together with knowledge of Competency Based Education and Microsoft Office applications.
Swimming Coach/Teacher – Nairobi
For professionals specialising in swimming and physical education, Aga Khan Education Service Kenya has a Swimming Teacher/Coach position in Nairobi.
The role combines swimming instruction with physical health and education. Lessons should be engaging and inclusive while supporting students in developing physical literacy, teamwork and healthy lifestyle habits.
The coach will plan swimming lessons around the abilities and progressive development of students rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
The position also extends into the school's wider sports programme. The successful applicant will contribute to co-curricular activities and school events and may provide lesson cover when staff members are absent.
Safety is a major consideration in swimming instruction. The coach is expected to maintain a safe and supportive environment and keep records of the swimming equipment available at the school.
The person should also act as a positive role model and create an environment that encourages both children and adults to participate in swimming.
Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in Education, specialising in Physical Education, and must be registered with TSC. They must also have swimming coaching training at a minimum of FINA Level II, Kenya Swimming Teachers & Coaches Association level or an equivalent qualification.
Three years of experience teaching swimming in a school environment, with demonstrable achievements, is required. Lifeguard and First Aid certification would be an added advantage.
Teacher – Art and Design – Mombasa
The Art and Design teaching position in Mombasa is aimed at a teacher who can help learners develop practical and creative skills while working within the school's curriculum.
The teacher will prepare lessons, contribute to unit and lesson planning and ensure that students are developing the knowledge and skills expected at their level.
Lessons should be differentiated to meet individual learner needs, and students should be encouraged to take part in different learning activities. Completed projects and other learner work can be displayed in the classroom to showcase their abilities.
The teacher will also contribute to learners' personal development by supporting confidence-building, social values and positive behaviour. Learners with learning differences or behavioural challenges will require appropriate guidance.
The position requires a Diploma in Art and Design or Fine Art, or a BEd in Art and Design/Fine Art. TSC registration is mandatory, alongside one to two years of teaching experience. Applicants should understand Competency Based Education and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Communications and Marketing Associate – Nairobi
Not all of the vacancies are classroom-based. The Communications and Marketing Associate position in Nairobi focuses on promoting the school's activities, managing public-facing communication and supporting marketing initiatives.
The role includes helping develop and implement marketing and communications strategies while supporting events and other activities designed to engage the school's audiences.
The associate will lead public-facing marketing initiatives in consultation with the line manager and help coordinate open days and careers days across the school's sections.
School events such as sports and swimming galas are also part of the work. The position may involve photography and videography at events held at the school and occasionally at other locations.
Branding is another responsibility. Public-facing materials such as letters, certificates and trophies need to follow the appropriate branding requirements and receive the required approval.
The associate will also support media events and communication activities coordinated by the Central Office in Mombasa. There may also be involvement in developing guidelines for programmes within the schools.
A database and repository of photographs and videos will need to be maintained.
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication or Digital Media and at least two years of work experience. Experience in a school environment is an added advantage. Adobe Suite certification or proven experience using the software is also required.
ICT Support Associate – Mombasa
The ICT Support Associate will work under the ICT Manager and provide technology support across the school.
The position involves installing, configuring and maintaining ICT hardware, software and networks. The person will also support cybersecurity and data protection requirements.
Managing ICT assets is part of the job, including keeping accurate inventories and coordinating equipment repairs. User support is another major responsibility, with the associate expected to help non-technical staff and students use technology effectively.
The position also includes developing ICT procedures, delivering training and promoting effective technology use.
Knowledge of server infrastructure and wireless access point management, including systems such as Aruba networks, is relevant to the position.
Good communication skills are required because the ICT associate will work with internal teams and external vendors. The person should be professional, responsive and proactive when dealing with support requests.
The work can involve several issues at the same time, so the ability to diagnose problems accurately, prioritise tasks and respond to emergencies is important.
The minimum academic requirement is a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is an added advantage. Certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft Systems Engineering or ITIL are also relevant.
At least two years of experience in a similar position is required, preferably with experience managing network infrastructure and user support in an institutional setting. Previous school experience would be an added advantage.
Admissions Officer – Mombasa
The Admissions Officer position focuses on the journey from a family's first enquiry through to the student's admission and enrolment.
The person will maintain the admissions pipeline, follow up on applications and support enrolment targets. Regular reports on admissions and enrolment will also be prepared for the Head Teachers.
A significant part of the job involves communicating with prospective families. The Admissions Officer will receive visitors, provide school tours and direct families to the relevant staff members.
The officer will provide general information about the school, including fees, capture prospective student information and follow up through phone calls and emails.
The position also requires coordination with the National Curriculum Coordinator, Junior Secondary School Coordinator, Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher so that prospective families receive the curriculum and other information they need.
Admission examinations will be administered through the admissions office, while student demographic and academic records must be kept accurately.
Once a student is admitted, the officer will prepare admission letters and ensure that the relevant documents are placed in the student's file.
The role continues beyond admission. Reports need to be printed and filed at the end of each semester, while transcripts and other documents may need to be prepared for current and former students.
The Admissions Officer will also manage the archive of student files and ensure that records are handled accurately and confidentially. Where a prospective learner may require additional assessment or support, the role involves liaising with the Learning Support team.
Applicants should have a Diploma in Admissions, Education Administration, Business Administration, Customer Service or a related field, together with at least two years of relevant experience. School experience is an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required, while experience with a School Information System or student information database would be useful.
