Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze organizational expenses and income to ensure transactions comply with established accounting principles, procedures, and standards. Identify discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Develop, update, monitor, and evaluate accounting procedures to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly documented in line with generally accepted accounting practices.
Prepare, estimate, communicate, and forecast financial reports, providing senior management with reliable qualitative and quantitative financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Establish and monitor appropriate accounting controls and verification procedures to improve transparency, strengthen financial processes, and reduce transaction processing times.
Prepare and analyze the organization’s operating budget and provide management with financial forecasts and strategic recommendations to support long-term financial sustainability and ensure departments operate within approved income and expenditure limits.
Assign, coordinate, supervise, and follow up on additional financial and administrative responsibilities as directed by the line manager to support efficient school operations.
Examine invoices for discrepancies and investigate unclear charges, pricing details, receiving confirmations, or other questionable information.
Maintain organized and secure records of vouchers, invoices, correspondence, and supporting financial documentation.
Prepare and process applicable tax returns and refund claims.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
Professional accounting certification is preferred, such as:
Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA)
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
Experience
At least three years of combined experience in accounting and finance functions.
Practical experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Experience preparing and managing budgets.
Strong background in financial reporting and analysis.
Knowledge of office administration and financial procedures.
Sound understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
Experience working with relevant accounting and financial management software.
