Junior Accountant – Tax & Compliance

We are looking for a Junior Accountant – Tax & Compliance to join the Finance team in Nairobi.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of accounting experience, with practical knowledge of Kenyan taxation, KRA compliance, and day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting transactions.

• Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.

• Perform bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations.

• Prepare and maintain general ledger records.

• Support monthly and year-end closing activities.

• Handle PAYE, VAT, and Withholding Tax compliance activities.

• Prepare and support the submission of tax returns.

• Maintain accurate KRA and tax documentation.

• Monitor tax filing and payment deadlines.

• Assist with KRA queries, reviews, and audits.

• Support inventory and financial reconciliations.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits.

• Maintain accurate and organized financial records.

• Provide support to the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.

• Strong practical knowledge of Kenyan taxation and KRA requirements.

• Experience handling PAYE, VAT, and Withholding Tax.

• Familiarity with iTax and eTIMS.

• CPA (K) qualification or ongoing CPA studies is an advantage.

• Good knowledge of MS Excel and Google Sheets.

• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, or ERP systems.

• Strong reconciliation and numerical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to meet tax and accounting deadlines.

• Manufacturing industry experience is an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate

• Female candidates with relevant accounting and Kenyan tax compliance experience are encouraged to apply.
