Finance Job at CIC Pharmacy Insurance Limited
CIC Pharmacy Insurance Limited is looking for a finance professional to support the organisation's financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting and internal controls. The position covers a broad range of finance activities, from preparing monthly reports and reconciling accounts to managing payables, receivables, inventory and branch finance operations.
This is a practical accounting role that requires someone who can work comfortably with financial records while also keeping track of day-to-day transactions and operational activities. The person will be expected to maintain accurate accounts, support audits, monitor financial controls and identify areas where the business can improve efficiency and manage costs.
For an accountant with at least two years of experience and progress toward a professional qualification such as CPA or ACCA, the position offers an opportunity to work across several important areas of business finance.
Financial Reporting and Records
A major part of the work involves keeping the company's financial information accurate and complete. The finance professional will be responsible for ensuring that transactions are properly recorded, classified and documented.
Every transaction needs to be assigned to the appropriate general ledger account and cost centre. This requires attention to detail because incorrect coding can affect financial reports and make it more difficult to understand how money is being spent across different areas of the business.
The position also involves preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards. These reports provide management with information needed to understand the financial position and performance of the business.
The general ledger will need to be maintained properly, while account reconciliations will form part of the regular finance work.
The role also includes maintaining the company's asset register. The register should correspond with the accounts and remain consistent with the organisation's financial policies.
Supporting Audits
Internal controls and audit support are another part of the position.
When internal or annual audits take place, the finance team needs to provide accurate schedules, listings and reconciliations. The person in this role will assist by preparing and supplying the required financial information when requested.
This means financial records need to be maintained throughout the year rather than only prepared when an audit is approaching. Proper documentation and regular reconciliations can make it easier to respond to audit requests and identify discrepancies.
The role also involves assessing internal controls and identifying areas where improvements may be required.
Accounts Payable and Vendor Management
Managing accounts payable will be an important part of the daily finance function.
The responsibilities include vendor management, processing invoices, reconciling vendor accounts and reviewing supplier statements. Ageing reports will also need to be generated to show outstanding amounts and help the organisation keep track of its obligations.
The finance professional will therefore need to maintain clear records of what the business owes and ensure that supplier information is properly reconciled.
Accuracy is particularly important when dealing with invoices and vendor statements because discrepancies need to be identified and resolved before they affect the company's financial records.
Customer Payments and Receivables
The position also covers the other side of the transaction cycle: money coming into the business.
Customer payments need to be receipted promptly and allocated correctly. The person handling this work must ensure that payments are matched to the appropriate customer accounts and recorded accurately.
Daily bank and M-Pesa reconciliations are also required. These reconciliations help confirm that transactions recorded in the accounting records correspond with the money actually received through the relevant payment channels.
Daily cash control reports will also be prepared as part of the finance operations.
Inventory and Stock Control
Unlike a role focused only on financial reporting, this position also has a direct connection with inventory management.
The finance professional will be involved in stock control and scheduled stock takes. Stock counts need to be conducted according to schedule, with the relevant reports prepared afterward.
Keeping inventory records accurate is important because stock represents a financial value for the organisation. Differences between physical stock and accounting records may need to be investigated and addressed.
The person in this role will therefore work across both accounting records and operational information when monitoring inventory.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Budget preparation and forecasting are also included in the position.
The finance professional will work on budgets and forecasts for capital expenditure and operating expenses. Sales budgeting and forecasting will also form part of the responsibility.
This requires an understanding of both current financial performance and expected business activity. Accurate forecasting can help management plan expenditure, monitor performance against expectations and identify areas requiring attention.
The role also involves identifying possible areas of cost optimisation within the business. This means looking at financial information from the perspective of efficiency and identifying where processes or spending may be improved.
Supporting Pharmacy Branch Operations
The position includes supervision of finance operations at pharmacy branches.
This adds an operational element to the job because the person will need to monitor finance activities taking place beyond the central accounting function. Branch-level transactions, cash controls, stock and other financial processes need to remain properly managed and aligned with company requirements.
The ability to coordinate finance activities and maintain consistent procedures will therefore be important.
Systems and Automation
Technology is another area covered by the position.
The finance professional will serve as an MIS Champion for existing systems as well as new systems introduced within the organisation. This involves supporting the use of financial and management information systems and adapting as new technology is implemented.
The role also calls for identifying and supporting opportunities for automation.
Automation can help reduce repetitive manual work, improve processing efficiency and contribute to better customer service. The person in this position will therefore be expected to recognise areas where technology could make finance processes more efficient.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field.
Progress toward a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA is also required. This indicates that the position is intended for someone who is developing professionally within the accounting and finance field.
At least two years of relevant experience is required.
Alongside the formal qualifications, attention to detail will be important because the position involves reconciliations, financial reporting, transaction coding, stock records, payments and other activities where errors can affect the accuracy of the company's accounts.
The person will also need to be comfortable handling several areas of finance at the same time. Accounts payable, customer payments, reconciliations, budgeting, inventory, reporting and audit support all form part of the wider responsibility.
A Broad Finance Role
The finance position at CIC Pharmacy Insurance Limited brings together accounting, reporting, budgeting and operational finance. Rather than concentrating on one narrow area, the role covers the movement of money through the business, from customer payments and supplier invoices to stock, operating expenses, capital expenditure and financial reporting.
The successful finance professional will be expected to maintain reliable financial records, support management reporting, assist with audits and strengthen financial controls while also contributing to more efficient ways of working.
For a finance professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related discipline, progress toward CPA or ACCA and at least two years of experience, this position provides an opportunity to take on responsibilities across both accounting and business operations.
