Job Purpose

The Company Accountant is responsible for ensuring effective control and management of the organization’s financial resources while maintaining accurate financial records and compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The role establishes and upholds accounting policies, systems, and procedures that support informed strategic decision-making. It also works closely with different departments to prepare budgets and financial forecasts, track and analyze financial performance, apply cost management measures, and coordinate the annual external audit process.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Management

• Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized records of all cash-related transactions.

• Process, record, and reconcile all incoming cash receipts, including customer payments.

• Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all cash inflows and outflows.

• Assign transactions to the correct accounts and ensure any foreign exchange gains or losses are reviewed and approved prior to posting.

• Develop and implement effective collection strategies to reduce overdue receivables.

• Administer petty cash disbursements after verifying and reconciling all related expenses.

• Ensure timely posting of petty cash vouchers.

• Support cash flow planning, monitoring, and forecasting activities.

• Conduct regular reconciliations between accounts receivable sub-ledgers and the general ledger.

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

• Ensure proper filing and archiving of cash-related records in Edocs and CW1 systems.

Minimum Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience Required

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in accounting or finance roles.

• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in accounting and office software applications.

• Familiarity with the CargoWise system will be considered an added advantage.

Certification / Professional Membership

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).
