Job Summary
The role supports the management of day-to-day Housekeeping and Laundry activities during assigned shifts. The successful candidate will help coordinate housekeeping staff, monitor cleanliness standards across guest rooms and shared areas, and ensure employee facilities are maintained appropriately. The position also conducts quality inspections, follows up on identified issues, and supports both guest and employee satisfaction while keeping departmental spending within approved targets.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
Diploma or degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role.
Previous experience within a luxury or five-star hotel environment is preferred.
Core Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations
Coordinate with the Front Office to ensure room status updates are communicated accurately and without unnecessary delays.
Work closely with the Engineering team to report, coordinate, and follow up on maintenance requirements affecting guest rooms.
Monitor the property's overall cleaning programme and ensure scheduled cleaning activities are completed.
Review room requirements, including immediate cleaning priorities and expected departures, and allocate duties accordingly.
Monitor housekeeping inventory and replenish supplies when necessary to maintain uninterrupted operations.
Assist with the supervision of daily housekeeping shifts and ensure team members follow established policies, procedures, and service standards.
Support the procurement and distribution of guestroom amenities, cleaning products, uniforms, and other departmental supplies.
Assist in maintaining an effective inspection process covering guest rooms and public areas.
Identify areas requiring additional attention, communicate expectations clearly to employees, and follow up to confirm that corrective work has been completed.
Ensure housekeeping personnel have the appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and uniforms required to perform their duties effectively.
Budget and Cost Control
Assist with monitoring controllable departmental expenses and contribute to achieving or improving approved budget targets.
Understand how housekeeping activities affect the hotel's wider financial performance and make operational decisions with cost efficiency in mind.
Review relevant budgets, operating reports, payroll information, and other financial records to support effective departmental cost management.
Guest Experience
Respond professionally to guest concerns, service issues, and complaints, taking appropriate action to resolve them.
Identify opportunities to strengthen housekeeping service delivery and improve overall performance.
Encourage and support employees in delivering consistently high standards of guest service.
Reinforce the importance of guest satisfaction during team meetings and promote a culture of continuous service improvement.
People Management and Development
Assist with investigations involving employee workplace accidents when required.
Monitor staffing arrangements to ensure sufficient coverage for guest requirements, operational demands, and departmental financial targets.
Clearly communicate job expectations, responsibilities, and performance standards to housekeeping employees.
Apply hotel policies and procedures consistently and fairly, ensuring that disciplinary processes and required documentation comply with established SOPs and local operating requirements.
Support the Peer Review Process and other applicable employee relations procedures.
Observe employee performance and service interactions, providing constructive feedback and coaching where appropriate.
Use available training resources to support the induction and development of new room attendants and arrange additional coaching when performance gaps are identified.
Contribute to employee performance reviews by providing relevant observations and feedback.
Assist with interviewing and selecting housekeeping team members who possess the required skills and service attitude.
Support the departmental induction programme to ensure new employees receive the training and guidance necessary to perform their responsibilities successfully.
Participate in progressive disciplinary processes when required and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
