The role involves hands-on fabrication, welding, equipment repair, and maintenance support, with a strong emphasis on technical accuracy, workplace safety, and biosecurity.
The work you’ll handle
You’ll be responsible for producing, repairing, and modifying metal components used across machinery, equipment, pipelines, and structural installations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Cutting, shaping, fitting, and welding metal components using the appropriate welding methods.
Fabricating and modifying machinery, equipment, pipelines, and structural parts from technical drawings and work instructions.
Reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications before beginning work.
Checking finished welds and fabricated components to confirm they meet required quality and technical standards.

Supporting preventive and corrective maintenance work where welding or fabrication expertise is required.
Carrying out basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on welding machines, tools, and associated equipment.
Using hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments safely and correctly.
Ensuring welding equipment, gases, and consumables are handled, stored, and used properly.
Working safely is part of the job
The workshop and production environment requires careful attention to safety at all times.
You’ll be expected to maintain an orderly work area and comply with applicable Occupational Health & Safety, fire safety, environmental, and company biosecurity requirements.
What you should have
A Certificate or Diploma in Welding and Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
A valid welding certification.
At least 2 years of practical welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans.
Sound knowledge of welding processes, metal characteristics, fabrication methods, and workshop equipment.
Practical experience working with hand and power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
The ideal candidate
You’ll be suited to this role if you’re technically capable, comfortable working with your hands, and able to translate drawings and specifications into accurate finished work.
Attention to detail matters, but so does reliability: the work you complete will contribute directly to the dependable operation and upkeep of hatchery equipment and facilities.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
