Role Overview
The Bartender will be responsible for preparing and serving a broad selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering an excellent guest experience. The role also involves maintaining bar cleanliness, monitoring stock, ensuring consistency in beverage preparation and following responsible alcohol service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and individual guest preferences.
Present drinks using the correct glassware and suitable garnishes.
Keep up to date with beverage trends, cocktail recipes and popular drink selections.
Welcome guests and engage with them in a friendly, professional and approachable manner.
Take beverage and food orders and ensure they are delivered without unnecessary delays.
Listen to guest concerns and resolve complaints politely and efficiently, referring serious matters to the supervisor on duty when necessary.
Keep the bar area clean, neat and properly organised throughout the shift.
Monitor supplies and replenish alcohol, mixers, garnishes, glassware and other required items.
Maintain proper control and organisation of bar inventory.
Verify guest identification to confirm legal drinking age and comply with applicable alcohol regulations.
Manage guest tabs, process payments and provide the correct change.
Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and follow all applicable legal requirements.
Decline further alcohol service to guests who appear intoxicated or behave disruptively in accordance with internal procedures.
Follow established health and safety requirements when handling food and beverages.
Qualifications and Requirements
Previous experience working as a bartender is required.
Diploma in Food and Beverage or a related field.
Strong understanding of beverage preparation, cocktail service, presentation and hospitality standards.
Good knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, mocktails and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence interacting with guests from different backgrounds.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide personalised, efficient and attentive service.
Knowledge of beverage ingredients, preparation techniques, garnishes, glassware and presentation requirements.
Ability to consistently prepare quality cocktails and other beverages while maintaining an efficient service pace.
Ability to manage several tasks in a busy bar or dining environment without compromising service quality.
