Job Summary
As a General Cashier, you will serve as a key representative of the hotel, contributing to exceptional guest experiences while upholding the organization's service standards and brand values. The role is responsible for managing cash operations across various departments, ensuring accurate handling, reconciliation, and safeguarding of financial transactions.
The successful candidate will oversee departmental cash floats for areas such as Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other operational units, ensuring proper issuance, accountability, and reconciliation. The position also involves managing currency exchange transactions, processing cash remittances, and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The General Cashier plays a critical role in supporting financial controls, ensuring the integrity of cash management processes, and contributing to the efficient day-to-day financial operations of the hotel while delivering professional and reliable service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
At least two years of practical experience in a cashiering, treasury, or cash management role, preferably within the hospitality, hotel, or service industry.
Proficient in the use of computerized financial systems, point-of-sale (POS) applications, and accounting or cash management software.
Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to process, reconcile, and manage large cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities to ensure accuracy in financial records and cash handling activities.
Good understanding of cash management procedures, financial controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests, clients, and colleagues.
Capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities and meeting strict deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in English.
Knowledge of foreign currency exchange procedures and related cash handling practices will be an added advantage.
Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and other schedules as required by operational demands.
Demonstrated honesty, accountability, and a high level of integrity when handling cash and other financial assets.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to established financial policies and procedures at all times.
