Job Overview

Talent Grid Africa is recruiting on behalf of a leading hospitality company for an experienced Sous Chef to join its culinary team in Mombasa. Relocation will be considered for suitable candidates.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising culinary teams, maintaining high food quality standards, and ensuring efficient service across the dining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Executive Chef to coordinate and oversee daily kitchen operations.

• Support the management and supervision of culinary teams to ensure smooth kitchen performance.

• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.

• Help ensure efficient food preparation and service across dining operations.

• Supervise kitchen activities in a high-volume environment while maintaining required standards.

• Support effective management of food costs, stock, and kitchen resources.

• Monitor inventory and help ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.

• Contribute to the smooth and efficient running of kitchen operations.

• Help maintain standards expected within high-end and luxury dining environments.

• Lead and support diverse culinary teams in achieving operational and service requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 7 years of progressive experience in the culinary field.

• Degree or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline.

• Previous experience working in high-end or luxury fine-dining operations.

• Experience in a senior line chef or Junior Sous Chef position.

• Knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and general kitchen operations.

• Experience managing diverse and high-volume kitchen teams.

• Previous experience in the coastal region is an advantage.

• Candidates willing to relocate to Mombasa are encouraged to apply.
