Position Overview
Our client, a renowned French bakery brand operating in Kenya through Boulangerie & Company Limited, is seeking to recruit a highly organized and experienced Chief Steward. Founded by Michel Galloyer in 1998, the internationally recognized bakery chain has established a presence in major cities around the world, including Paris and Tokyo, and currently operates multiple outlets in Nairobi as part of its expansion into the African market.
The Chief Steward will be responsible for managing and coordinating all stewarding functions within the organization. The role focuses on maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across kitchen and food service areas. The successful candidate will oversee the care and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, food preparation spaces, and support facilities while ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and occupational health requirements.
In addition, the position involves supervising the stewarding team, monitoring operational standards, and providing support to food and beverage operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Production, Housekeeping, Catering, or a related discipline.
A minimum of three to five years of practical experience in stewarding or kitchen support operations, including at least one year in a team leadership or supervisory capacity.
Sound understanding of food hygiene regulations, sanitation practices, and workplace safety standards.
Previous experience within hospitality establishments such as hotels, restaurants, bakeries, catering companies, or food processing and manufacturing facilities will be considered an added advantage.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and supervise teams effectively.
Strong organizational, coordination, and workload planning skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety requirements within food service environments.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail when carrying out duties and inspections.
Ability to manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper handling of equipment and supplies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to make informed operational decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and management.
Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment while handling operational pressures and changing priorities.
