Communications Officer
About the Role
The Communications Officer will support Hatua’s fundraising, donor engagement and organizational growth by developing engaging communications that showcase the organization’s work and impact. The role involves creating compelling stories, social media content, visual materials, newsletters, fundraising appeals and other communication materials designed to encourage audiences to engage and take action.
Working closely with the Development Coordinator, the officer will contribute to donor outreach, individual sponsorship initiatives and annual reporting. The position will also help strengthen relationships with existing partners, attract new supporters and raise Hatua’s visibility.
The ideal candidate will be a creative communicator with strong writing, graphic design and storytelling abilities, as well as a genuine interest in youth development. The successful applicant should be able to combine persuasive words and effective visuals to communicate Hatua’s impact and encourage potential partners to support its work.
Qualifications
Education
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Media Studies or a related field.
Candidates with relevant professional experience or other qualifications may also be considered if they can demonstrate strong communications experience and provide a solid portfolio of written and visual work.
Experience
1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital media or content development.
Practical experience creating written and visual materials for social media platforms, websites, newsletters, reports or communication campaigns.
Previous experience working in the nonprofit or youth development sector will be an added advantage.
