About the Opportunity
John Deere is looking for a Communication Specialist to support the Intelligent Solutions Group and its Enterprise Manufacturing Technologies initiatives. The successful candidate will help develop communication programs that keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational priorities.
This role requires someone who can turn complex technology and manufacturing information into clear, useful, and engaging communications for different audiences. The position will involve working closely with business leaders, product teams, HR, and communications professionals to deliver consistent messaging and support organizational change.
The preferred work locations are Moline, IL and Urbandale, IA, although the hiring manager may approve another John Deere facility in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement communication plans that support Enterprise Manufacturing Technologies goals, priorities, and initiatives.
Produce engaging content for internal communication channels such as SharePoint, Viva Engage, Microsoft Teams, email, town halls, and leadership presentations.
Convert complex manufacturing technology and business information into straightforward and actionable messages.
Work with organizational leaders, product teams, HR, and communications partners to maintain consistent messaging and strengthen employee engagement.
Support internal events, organizational announcements, employee recognition programs, and change management initiatives.
Ensure communication materials follow John Deere's brand requirements and established communication standards.
Required Qualifications
At least two years of professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, change management, or a closely related discipline.
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling capabilities.
Ability to adapt communication styles and messages for different audiences.
Demonstrated ability to explain complicated technical or business subjects in a simple and understandable manner.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple assignments, stakeholders, and deadlines at the same time.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and internal communication platforms, particularly SharePoint and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates may stand out through experience in any of the following areas:
Communications supporting manufacturing, engineering, technology, operations, or digital transformation teams.
Understanding of manufacturing technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, SAP, or operational technology.
Executive communications and organizational change management.
Supporting technology implementation and employee adoption programs.
Developing multimedia communications such as presentations, videos, podcasts, or digital campaigns.
Using communication performance data and feedback from stakeholders to evaluate and improve communication strategies.
Education
The ideal candidate will have a relevant academic background or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred educational qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Communications, Organizational Communications, English, or a related discipline.
Equivalent professional experience may be considered where appropriate.
A master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Organizational Leadership, Business, or a related area is advantageous.
Certifications or formal training in areas such as change management, employee communications, public relations, digital marketing, or project management are preferred.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range is $77,628 to $116,436 per year, in addition to benefits. Final compensation may vary according to applicable factors.
