Position Summary

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all agricultural operations are conducted in accordance with applicable legal requirements, organizational policies, and internationally recognized certification frameworks such as GLOBALG.A.P, SMETA, LEAF Marque, and Rainforest Alliance. Working closely with the Human Resources team, Health and Safety function, and operational departments, the role promotes compliance, supports audit preparedness, and fosters a culture of accountability, quality, safety, and ethical business practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Regulatory and Certification Compliance

• Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant legislation, employment regulations, industry requirements, and certification standards applicable to farm operations.

• Carry out routine compliance assessments, inspections, and internal audits across production areas, packing facilities, and administrative functions.

• Evaluate operational practices to identify areas of non-compliance, potential risks, and process weaknesses, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.

• Track implementation of corrective actions and monitor ongoing compliance performance.

Policy Development and Compliance Management

• Establish, review, and update compliance policies, operational procedures, and standard operating guidelines to align with legal and certification requirements.

• Promote awareness and understanding of compliance obligations among employees through guidance, communication, and training initiatives.

• Partner with departmental managers and the Human Resources team to ensure consistent application of company policies, disciplinary procedures, and grievance-handling processes.

• Support the integration of compliance best practices into daily operational activities.

Audit Coordination and Readiness

• Maintain a state of continuous preparedness for both scheduled and unannounced audits.

• Organize, maintain, and verify compliance records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and accessibility.

• Assist the Farm Operations Manager in planning and coordinating certification assessments, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.

• Monitor audit outcomes and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective action plans arising from audit findings.
