Role Overview

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will work with the Data Team to transform raw data into useful insights that support credit, product, operations, and business decisions. The role involves working with customer behavior, lending results, transaction records, credit risk, and operational data. You will also assist with machine learning and credit-scoring initiatives while receiving guidance from experienced team members.

Core Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Use SQL to retrieve, clean, transform, and analyze data.

• Assist in producing regular business and portfolio reports.

• Carry out exploratory analysis to identify trends, patterns, and unusual data points.

• Handle data requests from Credit, Product, Operations, Finance, and other departments.

• Verify reported figures and investigate inconsistencies or discrepancies in the data.

Credit & Portfolio Analytics

• Analyze loan repayment patterns and customer behavior.

• Review lending indicators including repayment rates, PAR, DPD, disbursements, collections, and overall portfolio performance.

• Conduct customer segmentation and related analysis.

• Assist in tracking credit risk indicators and evaluating model performance.

• Contribute ideas aimed at improving credit-scoring processes.

Insights & Reporting

• Address analysis and data requests from teams such as Operations, Product, Finance, and Credit.

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for internal stakeholders and external lenders, focusing on portfolio performance and borrower analytics.

• Carry out ad-hoc data analysis to investigate performance trends, potential risks, and operational challenges.

Model Experimentation Support

• Work alongside senior data scientists to prepare datasets and evaluate the performance of machine learning and scorecard prototypes.

• Assist with feature engineering, validation tests, and performance monitoring for classification and credit-scoring models.

Documentation & Best Practices

• Keep documentation for datasets, metric definitions, SQL queries, ETL processes, and dashboards accurate and up to date.

• Contribute to a shared knowledge base containing SQL examples, data dictionaries, and ETL logic to improve collaboration and onboarding.

• Follow data quality, quality assurance, and reproducibility practices across data-related work.
