Loan Officer
Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Loan Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing credit risk, guiding clients through the lending process, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service while supporting the organization's lending objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Loan Assessment & Credit Analysis
Review and evaluate loan applications to determine eligibility.
Conduct comprehensive credit and risk assessments using financial and supporting documentation.
Verify applicant information and ensure all required documents are complete and accurate.
Recommend loan approvals, declines, or alternative financing solutions based on assessment findings.
Ensure lending decisions align with established credit policies and risk management guidelines.
2. Client Relationship Management
Provide professional financial guidance to help clients identify suitable loan products.
Explain loan terms, repayment schedules, interest rates, and lending requirements clearly.
Respond promptly to client enquiries while delivering a high standard of customer service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
3. Loan Processing & Administration
Prepare and process loan documentation accurately and within established turnaround times.
Maintain complete and up-to-date client records throughout the loan lifecycle.
Monitor loan applications from submission through approval and disbursement.
Ensure all records are securely maintained and comply with internal documentation standards.
4. Operational Support
Work closely with the Operations team to facilitate timely loan approvals and disbursements.
Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve documentation or processing issues.
Support initiatives aimed at improving lending processes and operational efficiency.
Prepare periodic reports on loan portfolio performance and lending activities as required.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all lending activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Identify potential lending risks and escalate complex cases where appropriate.
Maintain confidentiality of client information and handle sensitive financial data responsibly.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen credit quality and operational controls.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in lending, credit analysis, banking, microfinance, or financial services.
Experience in loan appraisal, credit evaluation, or relationship management will be an added advantage.
