Main Purpose of the Role
The Design Specialist is responsible for developing practical, compliant security and life safety system designs that facilitate effective project execution and satisfy client needs. The position provides technical design expertise while working closely with project teams and stakeholders to improve coordination, support innovation, and deliver quality results efficiently.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Develop and design solutions for security and life safety systems, including CCTV, Access Control, PAVA, Entrance Control, IPBAX, Intercom, and related systems.
Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant design applications, including working drawings and As-Built Drawings.
Carry out site surveys and prepare sketches to support the development of appropriate design solutions.
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on completed system designs.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and other cross-functional stakeholders to establish project requirements, objectives, and limitations.
Participate in project meetings involving clients and other relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate project communication and document meeting outcomes through Minutes of Meetings (MoMs).
Maintain effective communication and collaboration with team members involved in project design activities.
Identify opportunities and recommend strategic solutions that can enhance the quality and effectiveness of design work.
Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and evolving design practices, incorporating relevant advancements into project deliverables.
Ensure all designs comply with applicable design standards, guidelines, and established requirements.
Skills and Personal Attributes
Diploma or Degree in an Engineering discipline, including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or Urban Planning.
At least 2 years of experience in a similar design-related role.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, and other relevant CAD design software.
Good knowledge of design principles, brand identity, and user-centred design approaches.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to handle several projects concurrently, effectively prioritize responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines within a fast-paced working environment.
