Position Summary
The Communications Officer (French Language) is responsible for managing French-language digital communications by producing, translating, editing, and publishing content across web and social media platforms. The role supports the organization's engagement with French-speaking audiences by ensuring timely, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication while promoting key initiatives and strengthening online visibility.
Key Responsibilities
French-Language Website Management
Translate a variety of communication materials—including news stories, press releases, selected speeches, and publications—from English into French for publication on the organization's website.
Review and proofread French-language web content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high editorial standards.
Conduct periodic assessments of existing French website content to identify information requiring updates or revisions.
Maintain and update French-language web pages to ensure content remains current and relevant.
Social Media Management
Develop and implement digital communication strategies tailored to French-speaking audiences.
Translate social media content, including captions, videos, graphics, and other multimedia materials, from English into French.
Manage French-language social media platforms by publishing engaging content and interacting with online communities.
Promote organizational campaigns, initiatives, and key messages through targeted outreach and digital engagement.
Monitor social media performance using analytics tools and refine content strategies to improve audience reach, engagement, and overall effectiveness.
Communications and Operational Support
Provide communication support for activities involving French-speaking stakeholders, including assignments related to the Executive Director's engagements and official travel.
Stay informed about emerging technologies, digital communication platforms, and translation tools to enhance communication efficiency.
Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, workshops, and other organizational communication initiatives.
Carry out additional communication and administrative responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
A bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Linguistics, Translation, or another related field.
Professional Experience
Candidates should have:
At least three years of relevant professional experience in communications, digital media, translation, or a related discipline.
Practical experience managing social media platforms as part of strategic communication campaigns.
Proven ability to translate and edit written content accurately from English into French.
Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrated creativity in developing innovative communication and digital engagement solutions.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Language Requirements
Fluency in both English and French is essential.
