Sales Representative – Consumer Banking
Job Purpose
The Sales Representative will drive the acquisition and growth of consumer banking customers by promoting relevant banking products and services to prospective clients. The role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, converting leads, supporting sales and marketing initiatives, and delivering excellent customer service to establish sustainable and profitable client relationships.
Successful candidates will be deployed in the following locations: Nanyuki, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Nakuru, Kericho, Narok, Kisii and Kitale.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth and Development – 60%
Identify prospective retail customers through structured market prospecting, field visits and engagement with employees of participating scheme companies.
Acquire new customers and promote the bank’s consumer banking products and services based on identified customer needs.
Generate quality leads, provide appropriate sales follow-up and convert prospects into customers.
Participate in consumer banking campaigns and promotional activities designed to increase product awareness and customer acquisition.
Consistently achieve or exceed weekly, monthly and quarterly sales targets assigned to consumer banking campaigns.
Ensure customer account-opening documentation is accurately completed and complies with established governance and regulatory requirements.
Submit completed customer documentation to the line manager for verification before forwarding it to the Account Management Unit.
Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the account-opening process to ensure timely completion and delivery of account information.
Relationship Management – 30%
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts within participating companies through regular visits, courtesy calls and quality service.
Keep scheme portfolio information current and accurate to help minimize potential business losses.
Work with business development teams to identify opportunities for expanding existing customer relationships and increasing product uptake.
Participate in service days, customer activations and other engagement events within assigned scheme companies, responding to customer questions and concerns.
Customer Service – 10%
Retain customers by providing suitable solutions and responding proactively to their enquiries and concerns.
Meet the required annual customer engagement and client visitation targets.
Resolve customer complaints within the established turnaround times and follow the approved escalation process for matters requiring further intervention.
Key Qualifications and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Ability to understand and interpret financial information effectively.
Good knowledge of banking products and services.
Understanding of banking industry developments, regulatory requirements, internal processes and standard operating procedures.
Previous sales experience, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
Education and Experience
Certificate qualification with at least three years of sales experience in banking; OR
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of banking sales experience.
