Bus Driver
Duties and Responsibilities
Take full responsibility for the assigned bus and ensure it is operated safely and responsibly.
Confirm that the bus is properly chaperoned whenever it leaves the Academy.
Prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of all passengers throughout every journey.
Transport students, staff, and visitors to and from designated stops according to the established schedule.
Transport and collect goods, correspondence, documents, equipment, and other items as directed by Academy management.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness inside and outside the vehicle.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections covering tyres, brakes, windscreen wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water levels, safety equipment, and other essential components using the Daily Vehicle Check List.
Promptly report mechanical problems, defects, or repairs required on the assigned vehicle.
Accurately record and regularly update vehicle mileage in the logbook.
Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the line manager.
Requirements
Possession of a valid PSV certificate and driving licence covering Class B, C, and E.
Must be at least 25 years old.
Must successfully undergo a health and physical assessment, including hearing and eyesight examinations.
Current knowledge of First Aid and Kenya Traffic Laws.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving buses.
Sound knowledge of vehicle operation, basic mechanical systems, and routine vehicle inspections.
Demonstrated ability to apply defensive driving practices and maintain safe following distances in different road and weather conditions.
Good understanding of and compliance with applicable traffic laws and transportation regulations, including requirements relating to operating hours and load limits.
Ability to plan efficient routes while considering travel time and fuel consumption.
Strong communication and customer service skills when dealing with passengers, dispatch personnel, clients, and regulatory authorities.
High level of integrity, dependability, responsibility, and accountability, particularly when handling cargo and adhering to scheduled delivery times.
