Job Purpose
The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable and timely transportation of authorized staff, passengers and official items. The role also involves ensuring Commission vehicles are properly maintained, secure and compliant with applicable transport requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operate Commission vehicles to transport authorized staff and support official activities and logistics.
Conduct regular vehicle inspections and ensure assigned vehicles are clean and well maintained.
Identify mechanical faults, defects or vehicle system problems and report them without delay.
Coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs with the Supply Chain and Administration Office.
Maintain complete and accurate vehicle work tickets and follow approved travel and delivery schedules.
Take responsibility for the safety and security of passengers, goods and the assigned vehicle at all times.
Regularly inspect vehicle safety equipment, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits, and confirm that insurance and inspection stickers remain valid.
Properly account for vehicle-related expenditure, including fuel card usage and cash allocations.
Collect and deliver official correspondence, mail and parcels as assigned.
Observe the Commission's transport policies and comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations.
Immediately report accidents, incidents or other vehicle-related occurrences to the office and GVCU.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+.
At least three years of relevant professional driving experience.
Valid driving licence covering categories B, C1 and D2, with no current endorsements.
Occupational Trade Test Grade I and II certification.
Valid Defensive Driving Certificate.
First Aid Certificate obtained through a one-week course.
Refresher training for drivers completed within the past three years.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
