Role Summary

The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation of personnel, goods, equipment, and materials both within and outside Ol Pejeta Conservancy (OPC). The position also involves basic vehicle care, compliance with road regulations, and supporting transport and logistical activities when required.

Responsibilities

• Safe and Responsible Driving: Operate assigned Conservancy vehicles carefully and efficiently while transporting staff, guests, visitors, goods, equipment, and materials to authorized destinations within and outside the Conservancy.

• Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Carry out pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine vehicle checks to confirm roadworthiness and proper functioning. Report any damage, defects, unusual sounds, mechanical problems, or servicing needs without delay.

• Journey Management and Documentation: Complete journey authorization forms, logbooks, trip sheets, and other transport records accurately before and after every trip. Record destinations, mileage, fuel usage, passengers, and other relevant journey information.

• Compliance with Laws and Procedures: Ensure all driving activities follow applicable traffic regulations, Conservancy policies, operating procedures, and established SOPs.

• Passenger Safety and Service: Transport employees, guests, visitors, and other authorized passengers safely and professionally. Maintain courtesy, discretion, and professionalism while representing the Conservancy during official assignments.

• Goods and Equipment Handling: Ensure all goods, equipment, materials, and other items are loaded and secured correctly to minimize the risk of loss or damage. Confirm deliveries and collections and obtain the necessary signatures or acknowledgements.

• Fuel and Resource Management: Follow approved fuel procedures, keep proper fuel records, and report discrepancies, unusual consumption, or suspected misuse promptly. Ensure Conservancy vehicles and resources are used responsibly and efficiently.

• Accident and Incident Reporting: Report accidents, traffic incidents, vehicle damage, breakdowns, security-related incidents, and other vehicle occurrences immediately to the appropriate supervisor. Complete all required incident reports.

• Communication and Coordination: Keep supervisors and relevant departments informed about vehicle availability, planned journeys, delays, breakdowns, schedule changes, and other transport matters.

• Vehicle Cleanliness and Care: Keep assigned vehicles clean, organized, and presentable. Ensure vehicle tools, accessories, emergency supplies, and safety equipment are available and properly maintained.

• Health and Safety: Follow occupational health and safety requirements and Conservancy safety procedures. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe working practices at all times.

• Other Duties: Carry out other lawful and reasonable responsibilities related to the position as directed by the supervisor or management.

Minimum Qualifications

• O-Level Certificate or an equivalent qualification.

• Valid and current driving licence covering Classes B, C, and D.

• A driving licence covering Classes E and/or G will be an added advantage.

• Certification in defensive driving and/or vehicle maintenance is an added advantage.

• Candidates with a Class F driving licence are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

• At least 5 years of continuous driving experience involving the relevant vehicle classes.

• Strong driving ability and knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.
