Position Summary
The Food and Beverage Service Expert is responsible for creating memorable dining experiences rather than simply serving meals and beverages. The role involves welcoming guests, taking and delivering orders, preparing dining areas, coordinating with the kitchen, maintaining cleanliness, handling payments where required, and responding to guest needs throughout their dining experience.
The position requires professional conduct, attention to service standards, teamwork, safety awareness, and a consistent commitment to guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
Respond to guest requests professionally, positively, and without unnecessary delay.
Welcome and acknowledge guests warmly through appropriate greetings, eye contact, and a friendly attitude, using their names where possible.
Anticipate guest requirements by asking relevant questions and paying attention to individual preferences.
Show genuine appreciation when guests depart and provide a warm farewell.
Listen carefully to questions, concerns, and requests and respond appropriately using the property's Luxury Collection service procedures.
Build rapport with guests by engaging them in suitable conversations about their stay, hotel services, and local attractions.
Assist colleagues when necessary to maintain proper service coverage and ensure guests receive timely assistance.
Food and Beverage Operations
Keep guest and service areas clean by clearing used items and returning food and beverage equipment to the correct locations.
Maintain clean workstations throughout the shift using clean-as-you-go practices.
Communicate allergies, dietary requirements, special requests, and additional meal requirements clearly to the kitchen.
Prepare tables according to the event type and applicable service standards, ensuring linens, glassware, crockery, and cutlery are correctly arranged and meet quality expectations.
Clear trays and tables as required to maintain a clean and presentable dining environment.
Follow approved procedures and local guidance when serving alcoholic beverages.
Thank guests after their visit, invite them to return, and provide a courteous farewell.
Collect and deliver food and beverage orders promptly.
Coordinate closely with the relevant kitchen teams to ensure orders are prepared and delivered correctly.
Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.
Beverage and Coffee Cart Duties
Check the condition, cleanliness, and presentation of china, glassware, and silverware before use.
Record guest transactions in MICROS or the applicable point-of-sale system when orders are placed.
Process cash, card, and other approved payment methods according to accounting procedures.
Follow all cash-control and property audit requirements, including applicable drop procedures.
Complete end-of-shift cashier reports, count the assigned bank, investigate discrepancies, secure receipts, and deposit funds according to procedure.
Collect the assigned cash bank, verify the amount, obtain sufficient change based on expected business levels, and keep funds secure.
Transport cash banks to and from workstations in accordance with security requirements.
Keep the cashier workstation properly arranged, supplied, and clean throughout the shift.
Closing Duties
Complete all required closing procedures.
Store reusable items correctly and return equipment to its designated location.
Clean equipment and work areas thoroughly.
Restock necessary supplies.
Secure refrigerators and other designated areas.
Switch off lights and secure doors as required.
Complete the daily cleaning and closing checklist.
Steps of Service
Present guests with an accurate bill and process payment in line with approved cash, credit, and gratuity procedures.
Check on guests during each course and throughout beverage service to confirm their satisfaction.
Answer questions about menu items and consult the kitchen when additional information is required.
Keep guests informed about food preparation times, unavailable items, recooked orders, and product availability.
In-Room Dining
Process room service orders received through the designated system and prepare and deliver them according to Al Maha's operating procedures.
Make the required follow-up call within the appropriate timeframe to confirm guest satisfaction.
Inform guests and management promptly when service delivery is delayed.
Management Support
Communicate with guests, colleagues, and other departments to ensure guest requirements are properly addressed.
Communication Standards
Use clear, appropriate, and professional language when speaking with guests and colleagues.
Discuss operational matters, work activities, and problems discreetly with supervisors, managers, and coworkers away from public guest areas.
Teamwork
Support colleagues and treat every team member with professionalism, dignity, and respect.

Use the correct equipment, required personal protective equipment, and safe lifting techniques to prevent injury.
Follow property procedures when responding to emergencies such as evacuations, medical incidents, or natural disasters.
Operate and store tools, machinery, and equipment safely according to established procedures.
Complete required safety training and certifications relevant to assigned duties.
Policies and Procedures
Protect the privacy and security of guests and colleagues.
Follow all company and departmental policies and operating procedures.
Keep uniforms, name tags, and personal appearance clean, hygienic, and professional.
Protect confidential business, guest, and company information.
Safeguard hotel equipment, tools, machinery, and other company assets.
Complete other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Where cash handling is part of the role, comply with the applicable EMEA Food & Beverage Cashiering procedures.
Follow Marriott requirements covering cashier responsibilities, petty cash, and procedures for handling cash overages or shortages.
