Job Summary
The BBC is seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Finance Coordinator to support its news operations across East Africa. This position is offered on a full-time fixed-term contract running until 26 March 2027.
The successful candidate will provide financial leadership and operational support by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective treasury management, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls. The role will also contribute to business planning, budgeting, and decision-making by delivering reliable financial information and maintaining compliance with BBC policies and local statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Operations Management
The Senior Finance Coordinator will oversee day-to-day financial activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinating supplier payments and ensuring timely settlement of obligations.
Managing invoicing processes and monitoring outstanding payments.
Overseeing employee expense claims and reimbursements.
Supporting banking transactions and treasury activities.
Managing cash flow and ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs.
Monitoring financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis
The role requires the preparation and review of financial information to support business decisions.
Key duties include:
Preparing monthly financial reports for management review.
Producing financial forecasts and performance reports.
Reviewing financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
Supporting operational and strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis.
Preparing management information reports for internal stakeholders.

3. Month-End and Financial Close Processes
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial records during reporting periods.

Leading month-end financial closing activities.

Ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded within reporting periods.
Verifying financial balances and supporting schedules.

4. Reconciliation and Financial Control
Strong financial controls are essential to this role.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations.
Investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Monitoring financial transactions for accuracy.
Maintaining effective internal control systems.
Supporting compliance with BBC financial policies and procedures.
Ensuring delegated authority limits are adhered to.
Identifying control weaknesses and recommending improvements.
5. Compliance and Regulatory Management
The Senior Finance Coordinator will ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting compliance with local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
Assisting with statutory filings and financial reporting obligations.
Monitoring compliance with BBC governance standards and policies.

7. Audit Coordination and Support
The successful candidate will support both internal and external audit activities.
Responsibilities include:

Coordinating information requests from auditors.
Acting as a liaison between auditors and internal stakeholders.
Supporting implementation of audit recommendations.
Monitoring progress of corrective actions arising from audit findings.

8. Stakeholder and Service Provider Management
The role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Working closely with operational, editorial, and project teams.

Managing relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
A recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent certification.
Additional qualifications in finance, accounting, or business management will be an advantage.
Experience Requirements
