Finance Officer
Location: Nyahururu
Reporting to: Director Operations
Pearl Hospital is looking for a reliable and detail-focused Finance Officer to handle daily accounting operations and contribute to maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate should be practical in their approach, accurate in their work, able to meet deadlines consistently, and committed to keeping financial records complete and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Record, verify, and review financial transactions carried out on a daily basis.
Conduct reconciliations for bank accounts, cash, suppliers, debtors, and the general ledger.
Match revenue recorded in the hospital system with insurance claims and payments received.
Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on unpaid insurer and corporate accounts.
Process supplier invoices and develop schedules for payments.
Assist with payroll preparation and carry out relevant payroll reconciliations.
Compile monthly financial reports and prepare schedules required during month-end closing.
Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, and other required statutory returns.
Keep accurate records for fixed assets, inventory, and other financial information.
Compile supporting documents and schedules required for internal and external audits.
Assist with departmental budgeting and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
Detect transaction discrepancies, possible revenue losses, and weaknesses in financial controls.
Ensure all financial activities comply with the hospital's policies and established approval processes.
Mandatory Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
CPA Part III, CPA Advanced Level, or a higher qualification.
Three to five years of practical accounting experience.
Proven experience handling reconciliations, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, taxation, and financial reporting.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Practical experience with KRA iTax, eTIMS, and statutory compliance requirements.
High standards of accuracy, integrity, organisation, and accountability.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while consistently meeting strict reporting deadlines.
Added Advantage
Previous accounting experience within a hospital or healthcare setting.
Experience handling hospital billing, insurance claims, and revenue-cycle reconciliations.
Familiarity with hospital management systems or ERP platforms.
