Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to lead and oversee the organization's financial activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting functions, tax compliance, payroll administration, financial reporting, budgeting, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization by providing accurate financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage financial operations effectively. In addition, the candidate should have extensive experience in accounting, taxation, payroll management, and financial reporting. A minimum of six to seven years of relevant professional experience is required, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Manager will be responsible for a wide range of financial and administrative functions, including but not limited to the following:
1. Financial Planning and Management
The Finance Manager will oversee the organization's overall financial management activities to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Reviewing financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Monitoring company revenues, expenditures, and cash flow positions.
Developing budgets and financial forecasts to support business planning.
Analyzing financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
Providing management with financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
Ensuring effective utilization of financial resources.
Establishing and maintaining sound financial policies and procedures.
Supporting long-term financial planning and organizational growth initiatives.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis
Accurate financial reporting is essential for informed decision-making and regulatory compliance. The Finance Manager will ensure timely preparation and presentation of financial reports.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing management accounts and periodic financial reports.
Conducting financial analysis to evaluate organizational performance.
Interpreting financial data and presenting findings to senior management.
Identifying trends, opportunities, and potential financial risks.
Supporting management in developing financial strategies based on reliable data.
Ensuring all reports comply with applicable accounting standards and company requirements.
3. Tax Management and Statutory Compliance
The Finance Manager will ensure that the organization complies with all tax laws and statutory obligations while minimizing compliance risks.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing all tax-related matters within the organization.
Ensuring compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax, and other applicable taxes.
Preparing and submitting tax returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
Monitoring changes in tax regulations and advising management on their impact.
Maintaining proper records to support tax filings and audits.
Coordinating responses to tax audits, reviews, and inspections.
Liaising with tax authorities and external consultants when required.
Advising management on tax planning opportunities and potential risks.
Ensuring timely payment of taxes and statutory deductions.
4. Accounting Operations
The Finance Manager will oversee daily accounting activities to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the general ledger and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
Supervising accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Reviewing reconciliations for bank accounts, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
Ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
Monitoring financial transactions and maintaining proper documentation.
Ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other applicable regulations.
Improving accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.
5. Payroll Administration
The Finance Manager will oversee payroll processes to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
Key duties include:
Managing the entire payroll cycle from preparation to payment.
Verifying employee salary information and payroll data.
Ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, benefits, allowances, overtime, and statutory deductions.
Maintaining payroll records and supporting documentation.
Ensuring compliance with labor laws and payroll-related regulations.
Reviewing payroll reports for accuracy before processing payments.
Addressing payroll inquiries and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Coordinating with Human Resources and other departments on payroll matters.
6. Risk Management and Internal Controls
A key responsibility of the Finance Manager is to safeguard company assets through effective risk management and internal control systems.
Responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing internal control procedures.
Monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Identifying financial and operational risks affecting the organization.
Developing strategies to minimize and manage identified risks.

7. Audit Coordination and Regulatory Compliance
The Finance Manager will act as the primary contact for auditors and regulatory bodies regarding financial matters.

Responding to audit findings and implementing corrective actions.
Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Candidates applying for this position should possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent certification.
Additional finance or management certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of six to seven years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, taxation, or related disciplines.
At least two years of experience in a supervisory or management-level role.
Proven experience managing financial reporting processes.

Experience working with audits and regulatory compliance requirements.
