Key Responsibilities
Strategic Development and Leadership
Contribute to the implementation of Tdh’s innovative financing roadmap across designated countries, programmes and thematic areas.
Monitor and assess developments in the financing landscape, including market trends, donor priorities and emerging funding models within the humanitarian and development sectors.
Assess complex financing approaches and convert relevant findings into practical opportunities and recommendations for Tdh.
Landscape Analysis and Knowledge Development
Map and regularly update relevant financing instruments, institutions, stakeholders and mechanisms across selected countries, regions and thematic programmes.
Promote internal knowledge sharing through workshops, expert sessions and capacity-building activities involving teams from different departments and regions.
Assess organizational capacity gaps across areas such as finance, risk, compliance, legal and MEAL, and recommend appropriate measures to address them.
Partnership Development
Establish and maintain engagement with external specialists, donors, development finance institutions, financial organizations, consultancies and academic partners supporting Tdh initiatives.
Strengthen Tdh’s position and visibility within the innovative financing sector and represent the organization at relevant events and forums when required.
Identify possibilities for Tdh to participate in established financing mechanisms, partnerships or consortia.
Pilot Design and Early Implementation
Coordinate the development of pilot initiatives in priority areas such as climate, health, child protection and migration.
Establish and formalize the technical partnerships required to support pilot implementation.
Capture initial experiences, findings and lessons from pilot activities to contribute to the development of Tdh’s strategy for 2028 and beyond.
Profile
Education
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Development, Public Policy, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Additional specialized training in blended finance, impact investing or development finance.
Experience and Skills
At least 7 years of demonstrated experience in innovative financing, humanitarian finance and development finance.
Practical knowledge and experience working with financing instruments and mechanisms used across humanitarian and development settings.
Previous experience with multilateral development banks or consulting firms specializing in humanitarian and development finance.
Experience collaborating across functions and engaging financial, legal and programme stakeholders.
Strong ability to interpret market intelligence and turn it into strategic direction and practical proposals.
Excellent analytical, project management and communication capabilities.
Understanding of the operational environment and challenges faced by international NGOs is an advantage.
Experience working with external experts, donors, development finance institutions or private-sector stakeholders.
Good understanding of impact measurement design and reporting requirements.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
IT Knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Salary
Compensation will be determined according to the Tdh Kenya salary scale, taking into account the successful candidate’s relevant professional experience.
