Finished Product Inspector
Role Purpose
The Finished Product Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all finished ceramic tiles meet the organization's quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements before they are released for storage or dispatch. The role involves conducting detailed inspections of finished products, verifying product identification and packaging, performing dimensional and visual quality checks, and ensuring that only products meeting approved quality standards are delivered to customers.
Working closely with the Quality Assurance, Production, and Warehouse teams, the Finished Product Inspector helps maintain product consistency, minimize defects, reduce customer complaints, and uphold the organization's reputation for delivering high-quality ceramic products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finished Product Inspection
The Finished Product Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of finished ceramic tiles before they are approved for storage or shipment.
Key responsibilities include:
Inspect finished products to ensure they comply with approved quality standards and customer specifications.
Verify that only conforming products are released for storage or dispatch.
Identify defective products and ensure they are segregated according to established quality procedures.
Record inspection findings accurately and communicate non-conformities to the relevant departments.
Participate in final quality verification before products leave the production area.
2. Packaging and Product Identification
The role ensures that all packaged products are correctly identified and properly prepared for distribution.
Responsibilities include:
Inspect product packaging for damage, contamination, or other defects.
Verify that labels, barcodes, SAP codes, product models, batch numbers, and color codes are accurate and clearly printed.
Confirm that packaging information matches the actual product contained within each package.
Ensure packaging complies with company standards and customer requirements.
Report packaging errors and coordinate corrective actions with production teams.
3. Product Verification
The Finished Product Inspector verifies that each product matches approved production specifications.
Responsibilities include:
Compare finished tiles with approved quality reference samples.
Verify product model, design, color, texture, and pattern consistency.
Ensure different product models, shades, and color codes are not mixed during packaging.
Confirm that product markings and identification codes comply with approved specifications.
Verify mold orientation and bottom markings before product release.
4. Dimensional Inspection
The role performs dimensional measurements to ensure products meet established manufacturing tolerances.
Responsibilities include:
Measure tile length, width, thickness, and dimensions using approved measuring equipment.
Inspect tile squareness, flatness, and edge alignment.
Verify compliance with product specifications and manufacturing standards.
Record measurement results accurately.
Report dimensional deviations for corrective action.
5. Visual Quality Inspection
The Finished Product Inspector conducts detailed visual inspections to identify surface defects and appearance issues.
Responsibilities include:
Inspect tile surfaces for cracks, chips, scratches, glaze defects, pinholes, stains, contamination, and other imperfections.
Assess color consistency across production batches.
Inspect product finish and overall appearance.
Verify that products meet acceptable visual quality standards.
Segregate defective products to prevent customer delivery.
6. Quality Testing
The role performs basic quality tests to confirm product performance.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct stain resistance tests in accordance with approved procedures.
Verify color uniformity and consistency.
Perform routine quality checks specified by quality standards.
Ensure testing equipment is used correctly and maintained appropriately.
Record and communicate test results.
7. Documentation and Reporting
The Finished Product Inspector maintains accurate quality records that support traceability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include:
Complete inspection reports accurately and on time.
Record defects, measurements, and quality observations.
Maintain inspection records for audit and traceability purposes.
Report quality concerns promptly to supervisors.
Support investigations into product quality issues.
Participate in quality review meetings where required.
8. Compliance and Continuous Improvement
The role contributes to maintaining a strong quality culture throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure inspections comply with company quality procedures and industry standards.
Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Support internal and external quality audits.
Recommend improvements to inspection procedures and product quality.
Maintain proper housekeeping within the inspection area.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Quality Assurance, or another related science discipline from a recognized institution.
Additional certification or training in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, ISO Quality Management Systems, or Laboratory Practices will be an added advantage.
Required Experience
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working in the ceramic tile, construction materials, manufacturing, or related industries is highly desirable.
Practical experience performing product inspections and quality testing.
Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, rulers, and other inspection equipment.
Familiarity with quality documentation, inspection records, and reporting procedures.
Experience working within ISO-based quality management systems is an added advantage.
