Role Summary
The role holder will be responsible for managing the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Compliance functions. This includes establishing effective processes for identifying, evaluating, monitoring and reducing risks while ensuring the organization operates in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
The position will also provide senior management and the Board with strategic advice on enterprise risk, governance, regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering, data privacy and emerging regulatory developments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and manage organization-wide risk management frameworks, policies and procedures.
Identify and evaluate key business risks, monitor risk exposures and provide regular updates on their status and mitigation.
Maintain comprehensive risk registers, monitoring systems and reporting mechanisms.
Oversee compliance with insurance-sector regulations, anti-money laundering obligations, data protection requirements and internal organizational policies.
Build a strong risk-conscious culture through staff training, awareness initiatives and engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Work closely with Internal Audit, regulatory authorities and senior leadership on matters relating to risk, governance and compliance.
Produce periodic risk and compliance reports for senior management and the Board to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Insurance, Actuarial Science or another relevant discipline.
A relevant professional qualification.
At least seven years of experience in risk management, compliance or audit, preferably gained within the insurance or financial services industry.
A minimum of three years’ experience in a managerial capacity.
Strong understanding of insurance business operations, regulatory frameworks and risk management principles.
Membership in an appropriate professional body.
A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
