Role Purpose
The role is responsible for overseeing HR operations and ensuring effective implementation of HR policies and processes. The position supports employees, promotes a positive workplace culture, and ensures compliance with HR best practices and applicable employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
Compile all payroll variables accurately and on time, ensuring they are supported by the required documentation.
Maintain regular communication with Heads of Departments, supervisors, and employees to understand and address HR-related matters.
Plan and coordinate annual leave for employees under supervision while ensuring business operations remain uninterrupted.
Conduct staff induction and ensure new employees receive the necessary tools and resources to perform their duties effectively.
Ensure employee job descriptions and KPIs remain current and obtain input from relevant HODs where necessary.
Manage recruitment activities and implement strategies for attracting suitable talent while working with the Human Resource Manager to ensure hiring processes comply with company policies.
Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts, ensuring issues are handled promptly and fairly.
Prepare employment-related letters and other HR correspondence.
Support the implementation of performance management processes by communicating requirements and assisting line managers with reviewing job descriptions, KPIs, appraisal tools, performance improvement plans, and employee development initiatives.
Participate in the administration of employee compensation, benefits, and incentive programs.
Identify employee training and development requirements and coordinate relevant training programs, workshops, and seminars.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and development initiatives.
Collect, maintain, and track HR data and reports in accordance with requirements agreed with the Head of Human Resources.
Support the implementation of decisions and actions arising from HR reports and analysis.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Professional certification in Human Resource Management (CHRP) is highly preferred.
At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar HR role.
Experience working in a logistics company will be an added advantage.
Experience in HR business partnering, grievance handling, and disciplinary processes.
Good knowledge of Kenyan employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Office, and employee management systems.
Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
