Human Resource Officer

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary

Pearl Hospital is looking for a reliable and proactive Human Resource Officer to oversee routine HR activities and contribute to creating a responsible, positive and performance-focused work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle employee recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts, staff documentation and exit procedures.

• Keep track of staff attendance, leave, probation periods, contract renewals, workforce requirements and payroll-related information.

• Organise performance review processes and monitor the implementation of agreed actions for employees and departments.

• Assist with disciplinary matters, employee complaints, grievance handling and workplace relations.

• Prepare, review and implement HR policies, procedures and standard HR documents.

• Coordinate employee orientation, staff development, training, recognition, engagement and succession planning activities.

• Prepare regular HR reports and give management accurate workforce information, including staffing levels, employee turnover, absenteeism, overtime and other relevant indicators.

• Ensure HR practices comply with Kenyan labour and employment legislation, professional standards and the hospital’s internal policies.

• Provide guidance to departmental managers on day-to-day employee and human resource matters.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.

• A minimum of three years’ experience working in a generalist HR position.

• Active membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).

• Good understanding of employment and labour legislation applicable in Kenya.

• Hands-on experience in recruitment, employee performance management, employee relations, disciplinary procedures and general HR administration.

• Strong skills in record keeping, Excel, reporting and organisation.

• Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality and the ability to work with limited supervision.

• Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare setting will be an added advantage.

• CHRP-K certification will be an added advantage.
