Human Resource Officer
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Job Summary
Pearl Hospital is looking for a reliable and proactive Human Resource Officer to oversee routine HR activities and contribute to creating a responsible, positive and performance-focused work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Handle employee recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts, staff documentation and exit procedures.
Keep track of staff attendance, leave, probation periods, contract renewals, workforce requirements and payroll-related information.
Organise performance review processes and monitor the implementation of agreed actions for employees and departments.
Assist with disciplinary matters, employee complaints, grievance handling and workplace relations.
Prepare, review and implement HR policies, procedures and standard HR documents.
Coordinate employee orientation, staff development, training, recognition, engagement and succession planning activities.
Prepare regular HR reports and give management accurate workforce information, including staffing levels, employee turnover, absenteeism, overtime and other relevant indicators.
Ensure HR practices comply with Kenyan labour and employment legislation, professional standards and the hospital’s internal policies.
Provide guidance to departmental managers on day-to-day employee and human resource matters.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
A minimum of three years’ experience working in a generalist HR position.
Active membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
Good understanding of employment and labour legislation applicable in Kenya.
Hands-on experience in recruitment, employee performance management, employee relations, disciplinary procedures and general HR administration.
Strong skills in record keeping, Excel, reporting and organisation.
Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality and the ability to work with limited supervision.
Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
CHRP-K certification will be an added advantage.
