The HR Lead will serve as a strategic HR partner to the academic division, supporting teachers and academic leaders across 7 campuses. The position will play an important role in connecting people strategies with organisational and academic priorities while balancing day-to-day HR operations with longer-term talent initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
Work closely with Heads of Schools and department leaders to ensure HR priorities support academic objectives.
Provide senior academic leaders with advice on workforce planning, HR policies and organisational changes.
Support the preparation and administration of the academic HR budget in accordance with school financial priorities.
Talent Acquisition and Management
Manage the complete recruitment and onboarding process for academic employees.
Ensure schools attract strong candidates while maintaining an efficient hiring process.
Develop initiatives that strengthen teacher engagement and wellbeing.
Support employee retention with a target faculty attrition rate of below 10%.
Performance and Professional Development
Standardise performance assessment tools across the different schools and help transition existing approaches toward the Enko model.
Identify training and development needs among faculty.
Organise and support professional development activities, including workshops and seminars, in line with Enko’s quality expectations.
Lead the implementation of the first formal performance assessments for Heads of Schools and their Deputies.
Employee Relations and Safeguarding
Handle faculty grievances, disciplinary cases and workplace conflicts fairly and with strong emotional intelligence.
Support constructive conflict resolution and maintain appropriate employee relations.
Promote awareness and implementation of Child Safeguarding policies.
Ensure employees understand their responsibilities regarding the protection, welfare and duty of care of children and young people.
HR Operations and Data
Keep faculty information and employment records accurate and up to date.
Oversee HR administration, including staff health insurance arrangements and welfare initiatives.
Use HR data and digital systems such as Personio/MZZ to prepare useful reports.
Analyse indicators including staff turnover, diversity and employee satisfaction to support informed management and executive decisions.
Candidate Profile
At least 5 years of professional HR experience.
A minimum of 3 years working in a senior or managerial HR position with regular exposure to C-level leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Membership in good standing with IHRM (CHRP Kenya).
A practical, ready-to-contribute approach with the ability to combine empathy and assertiveness.
Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-moving and highly regulated working environment.
Strong analytical capabilities and confidence working with HRIS or ERP platforms.
Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and managing organisational change.
