Information Technology Manager Job Opportunity at Finserve
Finserve is seeking an Information Technology Manager to support the organization in strengthening its technology, information security and cybersecurity controls. The position is designed for a technology professional who understands the importance of protecting business information, maintaining reliable IT systems and helping an organization manage technology-related risks.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Risk and Compliance. A major part of the role will involve supporting the resilience of Finserve's data and IT systems while helping ensure that cybersecurity controls are properly implemented across the company.
This is a role that combines information technology, cybersecurity, risk management, governance and employee awareness. The person appointed will contribute to ensuring that the company's Technology Information Cybersecurity Controls (TICS) commitments are properly managed and that the organization maintains an acceptable level of technology and cybersecurity risk.
Supporting Technology and Cybersecurity Resilience
Modern organizations depend heavily on technology and data to operate their businesses. Protecting these resources is therefore an important part of maintaining business continuity and customer confidence.
The Information Technology Manager will assist in protecting Finserve's data and IT systems by supporting the implementation of appropriate technology and cybersecurity controls. The role will help ensure that these controls are applied in line with the company's TICS Framework.
Beyond technical controls, the position will also contribute to developing a stronger cybersecurity culture within the organization. This means helping employees understand their responsibilities when using company systems, handling information and following technology security requirements.
The manager will also support the company's ability to meet its TICS commitments to both internal and external stakeholders. This includes requirements associated with regulators and other parties that have an interest in the organization's technology and cybersecurity environment.
Technology Risk Reporting
One of the important areas of responsibility will be overseeing the data analytics strategy used for IT and cybersecurity risk reporting within the subsidiary.
The successful candidate will need to support the collection, organization and use of relevant technology risk information so that management can have a clear understanding of the company's cybersecurity and IT risk position.
Effective reporting can help identify areas that require attention and provide decision-makers with information needed to monitor technology risks. The role will therefore contribute to maintaining an acceptable TICS risk profile and ensuring that relevant information is regularly reported to the Board.
Data Standards and Governance
Data management and governance will also form part of the position. The Information Technology Manager will be expected to manage data standards and governance while supporting implementation in accordance with BCBS 239.
This responsibility requires an understanding of the importance of accurate, consistent and properly governed data. The manager will help ensure that relevant standards are put into practice and incorporated into the organization's technology and risk processes.
Good data governance also supports better reporting and decision-making. By helping establish and maintain appropriate data standards, the role will contribute to the wider technology risk management framework.
Digitizing IT Governance Processes
The position will also support the digitization of important processes within IT Governance.
This includes helping operationalize the tracking of policies, standards and procedures. The objective is to ensure that technology governance requirements are not simply documented but are actively implemented and monitored.
The manager will also be involved in tracking IT people skills and headcount. Having the appropriate technology skills and staffing levels is an important part of maintaining effective IT governance and cybersecurity controls.
Another area of responsibility will be monitoring audit issues and supporting their remediation. The successful candidate will need to help ensure that identified issues are followed up and addressed appropriately.
Strengthening Risk Culture
Technology security is not solely dependent on systems and technical controls. Employees also play an important role in protecting company information and following security requirements.
For this reason, the Information Technology Manager will contribute to initiatives designed to improve the organization's risk culture.
The successful candidate will help promote greater awareness of technology and cybersecurity risks throughout the company. This may involve supporting awareness initiatives and helping employees understand the importance of following established policies and frameworks.
The position specifically requires an ability to create employee awareness and training around TICS policies and frameworks. Candidates should therefore be comfortable communicating technical and security requirements to employees in a clear and understandable way.
Reviewing New Systems and Products
Another key responsibility will involve the review of new systems and products.
As organizations introduce new technology, it is important to consider the associated IT and cybersecurity risks. The Information Technology Manager will contribute to reviews of new systems and products to help ensure that relevant technology and security requirements are considered.
This responsibility connects the role's cybersecurity, risk and governance functions. Rather than addressing technology risks only after systems are introduced, the position will support consideration of relevant controls as part of the review process.
Working With Risk and Compliance
The Information Technology Manager will operate closely with the Head of Risk and Compliance. This working relationship is important because technology risks can affect the wider risk profile of an organization.
The successful candidate will contribute technical and cybersecurity knowledge to risk and compliance activities. The role will also help connect IT governance requirements with the company's broader approach to managing risk.
The position will require an understanding of technology security policies and frameworks and the ability to ensure that these requirements are followed within the organization.
Required Qualification
The basic academic requirement for the position is a Bachelor's Degree.
Candidates should also have knowledge and awareness of Technology Information Cybersecurity (TICS) risk assessments. Understanding how technology and cybersecurity risks are identified and assessed will be important for carrying out the responsibilities of the role.
Applicants should also understand how to adhere to Technology Information Security Policies and Frameworks. This includes recognizing the importance of established security requirements and supporting their implementation within the company.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of TICS risk assessment and cybersecurity controls. Knowledge of technology information security policies and frameworks will also be important.
Experience or ability in employee awareness and training is another key requirement. The successful candidate should be capable of developing awareness and training activities that help employees understand TICS policies and frameworks.
Strong communication skills will be useful because the role involves working with different areas of the organization and explaining technology security requirements to employees and stakeholders.
The ability to work with data, governance processes, risk reporting and technology controls will also be relevant to the position.
Why This Role Matters
The Information Technology Manager position brings together several areas that are increasingly important to modern organizations: IT governance, cybersecurity, data management, risk reporting and employee awareness.
The person appointed will have a role in helping Finserve protect its information and technology environment while supporting the company's wider risk and compliance objectives. From monitoring cybersecurity risk information to supporting data governance, audit remediation and employee training, the position covers a broad range of technology-related responsibilities.
Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and relevant understanding of TICS risk management, security frameworks and employee cybersecurity awareness can consider this opportunity. The role is particularly suited to professionals who are interested in combining technology knowledge with governance, risk and compliance responsibilities.
Applicants should ensure that their CV clearly presents their relevant technology, cybersecurity, risk management and governance experience, particularly where it demonstrates familiarity with security policies, frameworks, risk assessments and employee awareness initiatives.
