Purpose
The Application administrator is responsible for making sure that the company's systems and applications are always available, work properly, are secure, and perform well.
They do this by checking on the systems daily, maintaining them, managing user access, doing backups, and fine-tuning the system settings.

They also deal with any system issues quickly and efficiently, making sure problems are resolved within agreed time frames to avoid interruptions to the business.


Responsibilities
The administrator will set up, check, and keep user access controls in place.
This includes adding, updating, and removing user accounts on time, conducting regular checks on user access, and making sure everyone follows the company's security and audit rules.

They must ensure that the availability of all systems and users stays above the required service level agreement (SLA) targets.
They will also work with external software and hardware suppliers to make sure they meet their SLA commitments.

The administrator will provide trend analysis reports to the IT management team to help with decision-making.
They will standardize and document system procedures and support methods, ensuring everything follows established IT service management processes.

They will work with the Problem Manager to identify patterns and their impact on the business, helping to find root causes and resolve problems within set time frames.
They will also test, monitor, and support all system interfaces to ensure IT services are always available and reliable.

Collaborating with the business systems implementation team, they will help make sure hardware is sized correctly for applications, ensuring service availability and avoiding wasted resources.
They will also work with the IT implementation team to address any development needs within agreed time frames.

Maintaining backup and recovery policies is essential, along with regular communication with technical and operational staff to ensure service continuity.
They will also manage the database management system software, installing updates as needed to keep the system secure and resilient.

They will review performance metrics and alerts regularly to identify trends and correlations.
They will monitor the capacity, performance, availability, integrity, and security of databases using the right tools.

They will work with others to provide support across different areas, consulting with technical experts or vendors when needed to solve complex issues.
They will manage and coordinate system upgrades, changes, and customizations with outside vendors, end-users, and IT teams.

They will also suggest and implement tools that improve productivity and reduce costs.
They will make sure that all documentation, timelines, and standard operating procedures for new projects are in place to support smooth transitions and post-implementation support.

Finally, they will provide technical support for the planning, coordination, and implementation of software projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field
Oracle Database administration certifications
Oracle SOA Suite Administration/Development certification or hands-on experience
Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) certification or experience in developing and maintaining ETL/integration processes
Oracle APEX development and administration skills
Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) administration, configuration, and reporting/dashboard support experience
Good knowledge of Oracle Database administration, SQL, and PL/SQL
Microsoft Certified System Engineer
Strong Unix/Linux administration knowledge and skills
Cloud administration certification, knowledge, and experience
ITIL Foundation Certification
Experience supporting Oracle Fusion Applications or Oracle E-Business Suite
Basic hardware knowledge
Three (3) years of experience in system administration in a similar environment.
