Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving cloud transformation initiatives, maintaining enterprise infrastructure, and ensuring the availability, security, and resilience of mission-critical systems.
Working closely with ICT leadership and cross-functional teams, you will support cloud migration strategies, optimize cloud resources, strengthen cybersecurity, and implement automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Infrastructure Management
Design, deploy, and maintain secure hybrid cloud environments that align with business objectives and industry best practices.
Administer Microsoft cloud technologies, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Windows Server environments.
Configure and manage Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, storage solutions, and auto-scaling services.
Ensure cloud platforms remain highly available, secure, and optimized for performance.
2. Cloud Strategy & Architecture
Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's long-term cloud infrastructure and networking strategy.
Support cloud migration initiatives by designing scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Recommend emerging technologies and architectural improvements that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Participate in infrastructure planning, capacity management, and technology roadmaps.
3. Infrastructure Security & Compliance
Implement and maintain security best practices across cloud and on-premises environments.
Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and infrastructure audits.
Ensure compliance with organizational ICT policies and recognized security frameworks such as CIS and NIST.
Apply system hardening standards to minimize security risks and improve infrastructure resilience.
4. Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
Develop, implement, and maintain reliable backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Regularly test recovery procedures to ensure business continuity objectives can be achieved.
Monitor backup performance and resolve issues affecting data protection processes.
Continuously improve recovery strategies to reduce downtime and operational risk.
5. Monitoring & Incident Management
Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions across cloud infrastructure.
Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and service availability.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure incidents within agreed service levels.
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
6. Virtualization & DevOps
Support and administer virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Support containerized workloads using Docker and related technologies.
Automate routine administrative tasks through PowerShell scripting and other automation tools.
Contribute to DevOps initiatives that improve deployment efficiency and infrastructure consistency.
7. Cloud Optimization
Continuously monitor cloud resource utilization to improve performance and cost efficiency.
Review Azure Advisor recommendations and optimize virtual machine sizing and cloud services.
Eliminate resource over-provisioning and underutilization while maintaining performance standards.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation and process optimization.
8. Collaboration & Technical Support
Work closely with application teams to deploy, configure, and support enterprise applications.
Collaborate with internal ICT teams and external stakeholders to integrate cloud-native technologies.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues on cloud infrastructure and networking.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
9. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to modernize infrastructure and improve system reliability.
Recommend technology enhancements that strengthen security, performance, and scalability.
Participate in ICT projects and contribute to innovation initiatives across the organization.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and Microsoft cloud advancements.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Professional Microsoft Azure certifications are highly desirable, including:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
Minimum five (5) years' experience managing enterprise cloud infrastructure, networking, or ICT environments.
Proven experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with cloud migration, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure management.
Experience working in complex, multi-site, or international ICT environments is an added advantage.

Compensation
The position offers an annual salary of EUR 23,296 under HQ Grade 7, based on a full-time appointment. Employees are eligible for an annual salary increment of 2%, up to a maximum period of ten (10) years, in accordance with organizational policy.
In addition, a monthly Work-Life Balance Allowance ranging from EUR 247 to EUR 295 is provided, depending on individual and administrative status. This benefit may be used to support accommodation, transportation, utilities, and other eligible living expenses.
