Job Overview
Lombard Consulting Services Inc. is seeking licensed Architects to join its teams in Huntington Beach and Lafayette. This role focuses on forensic architectural consulting, including the investigation and analysis of construction defects, preparation of technical reports, development of corrective solutions, and participation in legal proceedings.
The successful candidate will evaluate residential and commercial building issues, determine the causes of defects, assess the extent and cost of required repairs, and communicate findings through written reports and expert testimony.
Key Responsibilities
Develop appropriate strategies and plans for investigating construction defects.
Perform intrusive inspections, investigations, and required testing of building components.
Gather, review, and interpret investigation and testing results.
Assess the extent and scope of building damage.
Identify practical corrective actions and repair recommendations.
Estimate repair requirements, costs, and associated budgets.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting findings and recommendations.
Participate in litigation, mediation, depositions, arbitrations, and trials as required.
Provide expert testimony regarding architectural and construction-related findings.
Oversee or participate in repair activities when assigned.
Manage multiple projects while meeting established deadlines and client requirements.
Required Qualifications
Current California Architect license; licenses in additional states are an advantage.
Experience with both residential and commercial construction practices and project sequencing.
Strong knowledge of building materials, components, assemblies, and systems.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, financial reports, and job-cost information.
Thorough understanding of construction methods and applicable building codes.
Knowledge of relevant product standards and professional standards of practice.
Familiarity with construction contracts and contractual requirements.
Understanding of intrusive investigation procedures and techniques.
Knowledge of materials testing procedures and applicable protocols.
Strong analytical and technical report-writing abilities.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to establish and maintain productive client relationships.
Self-directed approach with the ability to work independently.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
