About the Role
We are seeking a detail-focused Junior Accountant to join a small and collaborative Accounting team. This position provides hands-on exposure to cost accounting, inventory accounting, general ledger activities, reconciliations, compliance reporting, and financial close procedures.
The role is well suited to an early-career accounting professional who wants to strengthen their technical skills, gain practical ERP experience, and work closely with different departments in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Record and reconcile daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity.
Complete routine account reconciliations to verify that financial records are accurate and complete.
Support monthly and annual closing activities by preparing journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Reconcile bank accounts and vendor balances regularly and investigate discrepancies.
Assist with inventory accounting activities, including costing, cycle counts, and analysis of inventory variances.
Maintain fixed asset records and assist with depreciation schedules.
Support calculations related to cost of goods sold and track project-related costs.
Prepare journal entries accurately and maintain organized documentation for all entries.
Gather and organize financial records required for internal and external audits.
Assist with sales tax submissions and other regulatory or compliance reporting.
Work with production and procurement teams to address accounting and cost-related questions.
Provide general accounting assistance and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
One to three years of accounting experience preferred; relevant internship experience may be considered.
Sound knowledge of fundamental and intermediate accounting principles.
Practical understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly to ERP platforms and other financial technology.
Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Positive attitude with a genuine interest in learning and developing professionally.
Additional Qualifications
Background in manufacturing, inventory accounting, cost accounting, or COGS is an advantage but not essential.
Familiarity with cost accounting principles is beneficial.
Experience using Acumatica or another ERP platform is preferred but not required.
Proactive, curious, and comfortable working with technology.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a small accounting team and across other departments.
Work Environment
The position works within a three-person accounting team, providing broad exposure to different areas of finance and accounting.
Employees will work fully onsite during the first 90 days. After that period, the schedule will transition to a hybrid arrangement of four days in the office and one day working remotely each week.
The company plans to relocate its office to Lithia Springs, Georgia, in November, approximately 20 minutes west of its current location in Smyrna.
The workplace incorporates elements of Japanese culture and offers biweekly Japanese language classes. Employees can also participate in activities such as morning stretching, Zumba, company 3K/5K events, and other team-building activities.
